The present invention relates to masterbatches useful for modifying thermoplastic polyesters, in particular to masterbatches comprising dispersed chain coupling agents, such as for example dianhydrides and optionally a polyol branching agent. The invention also relates to a method for preparing the masterbatches, and to a method for modifying a polyester utilizing the masterbatches. Yet another aspect of the invention is the use of such a masterbatch composition for the modification of polyesters.

The instant invention pertains to a thermoplastic organic polymer containing a conventional flame retardant and a hydroxylamine ester, in particular a tetraalkyl piperidine hydroxylamine ester. Further aspects of the invention are the use of hydroxylamine esters as flame retardants and a method for improving flame retardancy of a thermoplastic organic polymer.

This invention relates to a process for increasing the molecular weight and/or for the modification of polycondensates during the processing in the melt, which comprises adding to the polycondensate a blend comprising a) at least one polyfunctional anhydride (polyanhydride); b) at least one polyfunctional compound, the functional groups of which can react with the anhydride groups of component a); and c) at least one phosphonate. This invention also relates to the use of an additive blend for increasing the molecular weight and for the modification of polycondensates during the processing in the melt.
