    摘要: Disclosed is a method for the dissociation of cells. Cells are processed under varying conditions of pH, temperature, and shear to thereby produce different cell products. In one form, the cells are jet cooked at a lower temperature and/or pressure to provide products that are relatively delicate. The remaining cell components may then be subsequently jet cooked under higher temperature and/or shear conditions to provide products that are relatively more robust. Generally, the cells become dissociated, whereby at least one separate cell wall component is substantially separate from the dissociated cell walls.

    摘要: Disclosed is a multi-stage degassing unit for degassing waste water, such as effluent from grain milling processes, through impingement upon successive impact plates. The degassing unit has one or more stages of impact plates, which alternate with redistribution trays that receive the waste water that impinges upon the impact plates directly above the trays and then redistributes the waste water through a plurality of apertures in the redistribution tray. The process of impinging the waste water against the impact plates, collecting the water, and redistributing the water into a plurality of streams may be repeated as necessary to sufficiently remove gas clinging to biomass in the waste water. This degassing will promote the settlement of the biomass for reuse in the water treatment process to reduce biological oxygen demand.

    摘要: The disclosure relates to substantially uniform, high density microspheres and methods of making the microspheres. The microspheres can be made to be small in size with a narrow range of particle size distribution and a high sphericity. In one aspect, the microspheres provided herein are provided in the form of spherical cores comprising maltodextrin or maltodextrin and starch and are prepared using a centrifugal tumbling-granulating-coating apparatus. In another aspect, the spherical cores can be powder-coated with one or more layers of small particles, such as starch particles. The microspheres provided herein can be used as cores for multi-particulate solid dosage delivery systems as well as other pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food, personal care, and other applications.

Generally, a dry-milled corn fraction, such as a corn flour from which germ and fiber have been removed, is subjected to hydrolysis, typically catalyzed with acid or an enzyme such as an α-amylase enzyme, under conditions suitable to form a mixture of malto-oligosaccharides. A gluten fraction is removed and the enzyme is inactivated, such as with heat. The mixture of malto-oligosaccharides then may be recovered from remaining solids and purified.

    摘要: Disclosed are derivatized malto-oligosaccharides and methods for the preparation thereof. In accordance with the disclosed invention, a malto-oligosaccharide is hydrogenated to thereby obtain a hydrogenated malto-oligosaccharide, and the resulting hydrogenated malto-oligosaccharide is derivatized, such as via oxidation, esterification, etherification, or enzymatic modification. The derivatization of such hydrogenated malto-oligosaccharides results in a surprisingly low level of a formation of by-products and products of degradation. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, a mixture of malto-oligosaccharides is catalytically hydrogenated under reaction conditions suitable to substantially preserve the degree of polymerization (DP) profile of the mixture. The resulting malto-oligosaccharide mixture then is derivatized to form a derivatized malto-oligosaccharide mixture.
