Abstract: The invention is a system and method for transforming food waste into a commercial cleaning product. The system is containable in an enclosed facility and installable in urban environments. Food waste is sorted and ground into uniformly sized particles, heated to an acceleration temperature, inoculated with an inoculant including lactic acid bacteria, which is mixed into the ground waste. The waste then undergoes sedentary fermentation for times as short as 24 hours or less. The fermented waste is separated into liquids and solids, and liquids are further separated into at least one distillation stream. Solids are dried to obtain a second distillation stream.

Abstract: Disclosed is a waste processing plant and method of processing waste biomass. The plant includes a waste receiving apparatus for receiving biomass waste and processing it into a liquid stream before passing it to, anaerobic hydrolysis tanks for hydrolysis, acidification and acetylation of the stream, before passing it to, a heat exchanger for raising the temperature of the stream to a pasteurization temperature, pasteurization tanks for holding the stream at the pasteurization temperature to ensure adequate pasteurization before passing it to, and anaerobic methanogenesis tanks for anaerobic digestion of a portion of the stream into biogas. Also included is a centrifugation apparatus to separate oil from the stream, wherein at least a portion of the stream which is downstream of the hydrolysis tank(s) and upstream of the methanogenesis tank(s), and which has a temperature of above 68° C., is centrifuged by the centrifugation apparatus to remove a portion of the oil.

Abstract: A process and/or system for producing fuel using renewable hydrogen having a reduced carbon intensity. The renewable hydrogen is produced in a hydrogen production process comprising methane reforming, wherein at least a portion of the feedstock for the hydrogen production process comprises upgraded biogas sourced from a plurality of biogas plants. Each of the upgraded biogases is produced in a process that includes collecting biogas comprising methane and carbon dioxide, capturing at least 50% of the carbon dioxide originally present in the collected biogas and producing the upgraded biogas. Storage of the captured carbon dioxide reducing a carbon intensity of the fuel, without having to provide carbon capture and storage of carbon dioxide from hydrogen production.

Abstract: A waste treatment process utilizes a two-stage digestion process with a thermophilic digester, a heat exchanger, and a mesophilic digester. The pH of the thermophilic digestate is increased by removal of carbon dioxide with an air stripper, or by adding a pH increasing reagent upstream of the heat exchanger. The pH adjustment of the digestate protects the heat exchanger and downstream equipment and processes from struvite formation. A struvite reactor may be located in various locations downstream of the heat exchanger to produce a treated digestate or effluent that contains struvite, which can optionally be recovered for beneficial use.

The method also includes aerating the static pile by forced air ventilation throughout the mixed biomaterial pile to form a biodried material and dividing the biodried material into a recycle biosolid and a dried biomaterial product that is then suitable for disposal or use in agriculture or horticulture applications.
