Abstract: A public telephone set includes a card controller for reading information recorded in a card and performing conveyance and data processing of the card on the basis of the read information, and a speech controller for performing speech control corresponding to types of cards on the basis of data from the card controller. The card controller includes a card guide port, connected to a first convey path, for receiving plural types of cards and dispensing only a specific type of card, a return port, connected to a second convey path, for dispensing only remaining types of cards which are not dispensed to the card guide port, and a card selector mechanism for switching the cards into the first and second convey paths on the basis of a property inherent to the types of cards inserted into the card guide port, whereby charging processing corresponding to different types of cards is performed.

Abstract: A public telephone set includes a speech circuit including transmitting and receiving amplifiers for forming a channel loop and two pairs of conductors for respectively connecting a transmitter and a receiver in a handset to the transmitting and receiving amplifiers in the speech circuit. The telephone set further includes an energization circuit having a resistor applied with a power source voltage, a latching relay for switching at least one of the transmitter and the receiver through the conductors to the speech circuit or the energization circuit, and a CPU including an internal timer for monitoring a connecting state of the handset by presence/absence of a current supplied to the energization circuit or a voltage appearing in the energization circuit when the latching relay switches at least one of the transmitter and the receiver to the energization circuit.

Abstract: In a method of rolling metal for producing a metal plate or a metal sheet having a desired range of thickness through a sequence of rolling passes, variations in the deformation resistance of the metal along the longitudinal direction of the metal are detected, variations in deformation resistance and the resulting variations in rolling force in the finishing pass are estimated, and the rolling for obtaining the necessary thickness of the metal at the entrance of the finishing pass is carried out under a combination of a feedback automatic gauge control process and feed-forward automatic gauge control process, whereby variations in the rolling force are cancelled even if the metal which is to be rolled has skid marks thereon.
