Abstract: A combustible gas sensor for detecting an analyte gas includes a first element including a first electric heating element, a first support structure on the first electric heating element and a first catalyst supported on the first support structure and electronic circuitry in electrical connection with the first element. The electronic circuitry is configured to operate in a first mode in which the first element is operated at a first temperature at which the first catalyst catalyzes combustion of the analyte gas, and in a second mode wherein the first element is operated at a second temperature which is below the temperature at which the first catalyst catalyzed combustion of the analyte gas but at which Joule heating of the first element occurs. The electronic circuitry is further configured to measure a variable in the second mode related to a mass of the first element.

Abstract: A fall detection system includes at least one sensor configured to detect acceleration and orientation of a host, at least one indicator device having an alarm mode, and a controller operatively connected to the at least one sensor and the at least one indicator device. The controller is programmed to receive data generated by the at least one sensor, compare at least a portion of the received data with at least one specified parameter indicative of a fall event, and, based on the comparison, activating the at least one indicator device to enter the alarm mode. The at least one specified parameter includes at least one of the following: an acceleration exceeding a predetermined threshold, a change between a starting and a final orientation of the host before and after an acceleration event, a lack of movement of the host for a predetermined time after the acceleration event, or any combination thereof.

Abstract: A fall protection harness for being removably worn by a user having at least two leg straps, a first shoulder strap and a second shoulder strap. At least one of the shoulder straps has an energy absorbing element integrated therewith. The energy absorbing element may be a tubular webbing material surrounding a tearable webbing material with at least two bound webbing components configured to tear from one another when the shoulder strap is subjected to a force that exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A load indicator for use with a fall protection apparatus having a line and a connector for connecting to a user includes a housing having a pass-through opening and a covered indicator region. At least a portion of the housing is configured for connecting to the line. The load indicator also includes a shear pin supported by the housing and extending across the pass-through opening, and a saddle extending across at least a portion of the pass-through opening and supported by at least a portion of the shear pin. The saddle is configured for connecting to at least a portion of the connector. The saddle is movable relative to the housing between a first position and a second position when a force exceeding a predetermined threshold value is applied on the saddle causing the shear pin to shear or break. At least a portion of the indicator region is uncovered in the second position of the saddle when the shear pin shears or breaks.

Abstract: A method of testing a system, which has at least one electrochemical sensor for detecting an analyte gas within a housing of the system, and the housing has an inlet, includes exhaling in the vicinity of the inlet of the housing of the system and measuring a response to exhaled breath to test one or more transport paths of the system. Measuring the response to exhaled breath may, for example, include measuring the response of a sensor within the housing of the system that is responsive to the presence of exhaled breath. The sensor responsive to the presence of exhaled breath may, for example, include an electrochemically active electrode responsive to a gas within exhaled breath. The electrochemically active electrode may, for example, be responsive to carbon dioxide or to oxygen.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a fall limiting device. A fall limiting device includes a fall arrest mechanism configured to control a lifeline extending therefrom, said control comprising one or more of: paying out the lifeline, retracting the lifeline, and brake events indicating a fall arrest condition. A sensor system is configured to monitor one or more aspects of said control of the lifeline and to record data on a non-transitory computer-readable medium. A data output system is configured to provide access to the recorded data.
