Abstract:
A method is provided for controlling quality of operation of a passive acoustic monitoring system. The method includes, at least for one given source: (a) the given source emits at least one acoustic test signal; (b) the passive acoustic monitoring system obtains acoustic signal measurements and estimates at least one parameter, characteristic of and/or associated with the at least one test acoustic signal, as a function of the acoustic signal measurements; (c) comparing the at least one estimated parameter with at least one reference parameter, characteristic of and/or associated with the at least one test acoustic signal; (d) obtaining at least one piece of quality information, as a function of results of the comparing step. A quality control device is provided, which drives the given source to trigger the step (a), obtains the at least one estimated parameter and carries out the steps (c) and (d).
Abstract:
It is proposed a method for downloading data to a central unit in a seismic data acquisition system including a network, connected to the central unit and having a plurality of modules. Each module is adapted to generate and/or receive data and to store them. The method includes the following steps, for a given module: when the given module is connected, via a wired or wireless link, to the central unit, it sends to the central unit a historic, chronological or not, representative of data stored in the given module; the central unit cross-checks the historic with missing data of at least one pending experience, and upon match the central unit obtains at least some of the missing data from the given module.
Abstract:

The connector has a global cylindrical shape around a longitudinal axis and includes a connection zone having comprising at least one electrical contact. A housing extends at least partly around the connection zone and has at least two projecting members. A cylindrical locking nut surrounds the housing and is at least partly movable relative to the housing. The housing and the locking nut are configured for respectively cooperating with corresponding locking nut and housing of the similar connector.
Abstract:
A switch for a marine seismic sensor. The switch includes a bellows having a closed end, a side portion and an open end, wherein the side portion connects the closed end to the open end, the closed end includes a conductive surface, and the side portion acts as a spring; a base plug that includes first input and first output contacts on a first side and second input and second output contacts on an opposite side; and a plug located in the open end of the bellows and configured to form a chamber, inside which the second input contact and the second output contact are provided. The conductive surface short-circuits the second input contact and the second output contact when a pressure larger than a predetermined pressure (P) acts on the conductive surface.

Laser machining systems and methods may include debris removal systems to remove debris generated by the machining process and/or outgassing or filtration systems to remove harmful gases and filter and recycle air within the system. The laser machining systems and methods may be used to scribe one or more lines in large flat workpieces such as solar panels. In particular, laser machining systems and methods may be used to scribe lines in thin film photovoltaic (PV) solar panels with accuracy, high speed and reduced cost.

A digital seismic sensor adapted to be connected, via a two-conductor line, to an acquisition device. The digital seismic sensor includes: a digital sensor; a local sampling clock providing a sampling frequency; a receiver for receiving command data coming from the acquisition device and synchronization information providing accurate timing information to enable seismic sensor synchronization; a compensator for compensating, as a function of the synchronization information, a drift of the local sampling clock; a transmitter for transmitting seismic data towards the acquisition device; a driver for driving the receiver and the transmitter, according to a half-duplex transmission protocol over the two-conductor line and using a transmission clock extracted from the received command data; a power receiver for receiving electrical power; and a coupler for coupling the command and synchronization information receiver, the transmitter and the power receiver to the two-conductor line.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for managing the acoustic performances of a network of acoustic nodes arranged along towed acoustic linear antennas. The network of acoustic nodes is adapted to determine inter-node distances allowing to locate the acoustic linear antennas. The method includes: obtaining a determined layout of the network of acoustic nodes; obtaining at least one marine environment property relating to an area of performance of a survey with the network of acoustic nodes; and quantifying the acoustic performances of the network of acoustic nodes, using a sound propagation model, the at least one marine environment property and the determined layout.

Abstract:
A bidirectional optoelectronic device comprises a photodetector and a light source on a waveguide substrate, and a drive circuit for the light source. The waveguide substrate can include light collector(s) or trap(s) for redirecting and attenuating portions of optical signals propagating in waveguide layers on the substrate but not guided by a waveguide. A protective encapsulant can be applied that includes hollow dielectric microspheres to reduce electrical cross-talk, and that can further include an optical absorber to reduce optical cross-talk.
Abstract:
A segment of optical fiber is engaged with a fiber groove on a device substrate, which positions the fiber segment for optical coupling with an optical component on the substrate. A fiber retainer maintains the fiber segment in engagement with the groove. The fiber retainer may be secured to the substrate with adhesive means. The adhesive means forms at least one retaining member that at least partially fills at least one recessed region formed on the device substrate or on the fiber retainer. That recessed region is spatially separate from the fiber groove and from an area of the fiber retainer engaged with the fiber.
