Abstract:
A method and apparatus for implementing reference signal transmissions in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes the cell, transmission point (TP), or transmission and reception point (TRP) broadcasting a first RS periodically for measurement, wherein the first RS is transmitted at multiple occasions (or timings) in each period on different beams. The method also includes the cell, TP, or TRP transmitting a second RS to a UE for PDCCH demodulation, wherein the second RS is transmitted on multiple beams in a beam set of the UE in a subframe (or symbol) in which the PDCCH is transmitted.

In one embodiment, the method includes the UE receiving an SCell activation/deactivation MAC (Medium Access Control) control element to activate the SCell. The method further includes the UE activates the SCell based on the SCell activation/deactivation MAC control element. The method also includes the UE receiving a beam indication by a MAC control element via the PCell, wherein the beam indication includes a cell index and the beam indication is used to derive at least one beam to be used in the SCell. In addition, the method includes the UE using the at least one beam for a DL (Downlink) transmission or an UL (Uplink) transmission in the SCell.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed from the perspective of a network node. In one embodiment, the method includes the network node transmitting a first slot format information (SFI) to a User Equipment (UE), wherein the first SFI indicates transmitted direction of symbols of a first set of slots. The method also includes the network node transmitting a second SFI carried by a group common physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) to the UE, wherein the second SFI indicates transmitted direction of symbols of a second set of slots, and wherein if the first set of slots and the second set of slots are partially overlapped in time domain and the second SFI is transmitted after the first SFI, transmitted direction of overlapped symbols indicated by the second SFI is aligned with transmitted direction of the overlapped symbols indicated by the first SFI.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for random access procedures for a system information request in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. In one method, a user equipment (UE) initiates a random access procedure to request a system information. The UE transmits a random access preamble during the random access procedure. The UE monitors a control channel for a random access response immediately after transmitting the random access preamble for a request of the system information.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for handling upon UL timing asynchronism in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. The user equipment (UE) maintains a timing advance (TA) value for each of a plurality of beams used for uplink transmissions to a cell, or a transmitter/reception point (TRP) operatively connected to a gNodeB. If less than all of the maintained TA values become invalid, then the UE will continue transmission on any beam for which the TA value remains valid, while discontinuing transmission on any beam with an invalid TA value.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed, from the perspective of a UE, for transmitting UL RS. In one embodiment, the method includes deriving a first transmit power of a first UL RS based on a first power control mechanism, wherein derivation of the first transmit power based on the first power control mechanism is associated with an uplink data channel. In addition, the method includes deriving a second transmit power of a second UL RS based on a second power control mechanism, wherein derivation of the second transmit power based on the second power control mechanism is not associated with the uplink data channel. Furthermore, the method includes transmitting the first UL RS with the first transmit power. The method also includes transmitting the second UL RS with the second transmit power.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for multicasting data to a group in a wireless communication system are disclosed herein. According to one exemplary method for a base station for multicasting data to a group in a wireless communication system, the base station receives one or multiple messages to indicate UE(s) in the group. The base station configures each UE in the group with same periodic downlink resource via a dedicated signaling per UE. The base station receives a packet associated with the group, and the base station multicasts the packet to the UEs in the group via the same periodic downlink resource.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for delivery of control signaling in a wireless communication system are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes communicating with a UE (User Equipment) in the cell via downlink and uplink transmissions, wherein the downlink and uplink transmissions are organized into radio frames and each radio frame contains multiple subframes and each subframe contains multiple symbols. The method also includes transmitting, in the cell, a UE specific signal in a first symbol of a downlink control region of a subframe of the multiple subframes, wherein the network node is not allowed to transmit a common signal in the first symbol.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for improving downlink control information in a wireless communication system. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a first control signaling indicating a first transmission to a first UE, wherein the first control signaling is identified by a first identification used by the first UE. The method also includes receiving a second control signaling indicating a second transmission to a second UE, wherein the second control signaling is identified by a second identification used by the second UE. The method further includes decoding the first transmission based on information provided by at least the first control signaling and the second control signaling, wherein radio resource used by the first transmission is indicated by the second control signaling but is not indicated by the first control signaling.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed. In an example from the perspective of a User Equipment (UE) with a first Universal Subscriber Identity Module (USIM) and a second USIM, the UE establishes a connection associated with the first USIM, wherein a UE state corresponding to the first USIM enters connected state. The UE stops monitoring paging in a serving cell for the second USIM based on a time domain pattern derived using a second UE Identifier (UE ID) associated with the second USIM, wherein the stopping monitoring paging is performed when the UE state corresponding to the first USIM is connected state and a UE state corresponding to the second USIM is idle state or inactive state. The UE receives, in a serving cell for the first USIM from a network node, an indication associated with activity for the second USIM via the connection associated with the first USIM.
