A printer controller (2103) includes a PG unit (3112) for generating a pattern having a predetermined density. The pattern is transmitted to an engine controller (2002) via an output I/F to obtain a print result. Correction data representing the difference between a result obtained by reading the print result and a predetermined characteristic is received from a reader controller via a serial communication controller (3111).
