Abstract:
The invention presents a method for conducting an on-line bidding session to accumulate a collective bid for a property. The bidding session is conducted over a computer network that includes a central computer, a number of remote computers, and communication lines connecting the remote computers to the central computer. According to the method, at least one bidding group is registered in the central computer. The bidding group can be an association, institution, or group of investors formed for the purpose of bidding together for the property. The bidding group has a total bid for the property which is tracked in the central computer. The central computer receives bids entered from the remote computers by members of the bidding group. Each bid includes an individual bid amount which is contributed to the total bid of the group to accumulate the collective bid for the property.
Abstract:
Techniques for superimposing highlights and shadows onto a background in order to simulate a brush texture graphical style within a software application's component window. The techniques include decoding a user-selected base-color into its individual color components, performing a contrast operation on the individual color components to determine highlight and shadow colors, and superimposing the highlight and shadow colors onto the user selected background.
Abstract:
A method of generating control commands to be executed by a motion control system under control of a plurality of system users to move an object in a desired manner. At least one restricted program element associated with the motion control system is identified. An application program used by the system users when controlling the motion control system is provided. The application program employs the at least one restricted program element. A plurality of access levels are determined. Each restricted program element is associated with one of the access levels. Each of the plurality of system users is associated with one of the access levels. Motion control commands are generated based on the application program, the access level of each system user, and the access level of each restricted program element.
Abstract:
A hanger having a novel construction including an engagement member, a foldable body portion having an upper end with a pair of continuous locking openings, and a lower or tail end with a two prong locking member which engages the locking openings in a secured or closed position is disclosed. In one embodiment, the prongs of the locking member include a tapered head having a locking projection that engages a rear planar surface of the body portion, between the locking openings, in order to discourage removal of the locking member from the locking openings in use. The combination of these features allows the belt hanger to be readily assembled, tamper resistant after assembly, and aesthetically pleasing.
Abstract:
An electronic circuit assembly (10) including circuit boards (14, 16 and 18) includes a plenum (22) disposed adjacent the components (38 and 40) on the circuit boards for directing air from a blower (18) selectively onto the components (38 and 40). Struts (34, 34', and 82) extending between the plenum's face walls (24, 26) prevent excessive bowing of those walls under the pressure caused by the blower (18). As a consequence, the plenum can be made of material that is relatively thin and light.
Abstract:
An anti-theft assembly for deterring theft of a ring is provided. The anti-theft assembly includes a base that can be used to support an electronic article surveillance marker; a product engagement member including a support member that supports the ring during use and a locking member that secures the support member to the base; and an attachment member for securing the ring to the support member. In one embodiment, the support member and the locking member are a single, unitary member. In another embodiment, the support member and the locking member are separate members. Once assembled, upon applying a twisting force to the ring the engagement member rotates within the opening so that the attachment member is not broken.
Abstract:
An anti-theft device for use with a product includes a housing for receiving a portion of the product therein, a strap to secure the housing to the product, a locking assembly to deter removal of the anti-theft device, and a detachment portion to affect removal of the anti-theft device. An EAS sensor may also be provided. The locking assembly includes at least a first portion and at least a second portion that engage each other in a locked position to secure the housing to the product. The detachment portion enables a portion of the anti-theft device to be more readily severed in order to remove the anti-theft device from the product. In one embodiment, the strap is adjustable so that the length of the strap can be adjusted about a periphery of the product during application of the anti-theft device.
Abstract:
A patient notification and response system comprises a communications network, a server, a workstation, and a remote motion device. The server is operatively connected to the communications network and comprises a database and a script generator. The database comprises script programs, where each script program is associated with a patient notification message. The script generator is configured to generate a script having one or more commands based on the script programs. The workstation is operatively connected to the communications network and displays a user interface configured to allow a first user to select a selected script program from the database on the server. The remote motion device operatively connected to the communications network, where the remote motion device is in the possession of a second user associated with a patient and comprises a speaker, a microphone, a motion system, and a controller. Based on the script commands of the selected script program, the controller causes the speaker to generate first audible signals perceivable by the second user, activates the motion system to cause movement of the remote motion device perceivable by the second user, and transmits to the first user responses generated based on second audible signals made by the second user in response to at least one of the first audible signals and the movement of the remote motion device.
Abstract:
A motion control system comprising a machine platform, at least one event destination, and an event handler. The machine platform carries out automated tasks and generates events. The event handler is configurable to receive at least one event from the machine platform and send the at least one event to the at least one event destination.
