    摘要: A quartz lamp that permits the bulb to be replaced from a side port without disassembling the lamp housing, and without having to touch the quartz envelope of the bulb. The lamp has an access port in a side wall of the lamp housing through which an expired bulb is extracted and a replacement bulb is installed. A knob seats in the access port where it is lockable into its seated position. Attached to the inner surface of the knob is a first bulb holder assembly, which receives and holds the bulb at one of its ends and establishes electrical contact with the bulb at that end. A second bulb holder assembly is secured within the lamp housing at a position opposite the access port and in registration with the first bulb holder assembly. The second bulb holder assembly receives and holds, and establishes electrical contact with, the bulb at the opposite end when it is inserted into the lamp housing through the access port. The second bulb holder assembly mounted within the lamp housing may be electrically connected directly to an electrical power lead. The first bulb holder assembly has a first electrical contact member that is electrically connected to an electrical power lead within the lamp housing and is secured within the lamp housing. A second electrical contact member is mechanically and electrically secured to the first bulb holder assembly and is arranged to electrically engage the first electrical contact member when the knob is in its seated position so as to connect the power lead to a bulb in the first bulb holder assembly when the bulb and assembly are inserted into the lamp housing and the knob is seated in the access port. Removal of the knob with attached first bulb holder assembly thus permits the bulb to be changed without opening up the lamp housing.

    摘要: A passive infrared motion detector with a 360.degree. field of view. The motion detector includes an integrated-circuit infrared sensor package containing an infra-red sensor having one or more sensing elements. The integrated-circuit sensor package is provided with viewing windows on both sides and the sensing elements are mounted within the integrated-circuit package so that both sides of the sensing elements are able to receive infrared radiation through the viewing windows from the areas in front of and behind the integrated-circuit package. The motion detector includes infrared-refracting means that are disposed with respect to the front and rear surfaces of the sensing elements so as to direct radiation to the surfaces from lateral areas on both sides of the integrated-circuit package. The infrared refracting means are positioned to leave at least a portion of the surfaces on both sides of the sensing elements unobstructed for receiving infrared radiation directed at the respective unobstructed portions from the frontal and rear regions of the field of view. A focusing means is provided to direct infra-red radiation from a plurality of zones in the frontal and rear regions of the field of view directly to the unobstructed portions of the sensing elements and from a plurality of zones in both lateral regions of the field of view to the refracting means for refraction to the sensing elements.

    摘要: An ergonomically designed switch for a halogen worklight. The worklight includes a switch housing attached to the worklight head and a push-action switch mounted in the switch housing for energizing one or more halogen lamps mounted in the worklight head. An ergonomic switch is operated by pressing on a switch button, which is formed to present an ergonomically sized engagement surface to the user. The size of the engagement surface is related to the typical size of a finger pad of the human hand. Through the simple expedient of providing a substantial switch button on the actuating shaft of the switch and sizing the engagement surface of the button to correlate with the size of the human hand, the ease and comfort of operation of the worklight is dramatically improved over worklights having awkward switch mechanisms long thought in the prior art to be unavoidable. The switch button is structured and arranged with a guide assembly to provide stabile travel and a solid feel to the user when activating the switch.
