Abstract:
A U.F. foam that is diamensionally stable, but low in formaldehyde, was made by adding to a conventional solution of a urea formaldehyde resin precondensate, before foaming, up to 50% urea, relative to the solid resin substance, and one or several connecting agents from the group of sulfurous alkyl compounds, saturated monobasic carbonic acids, saturated and unsaturated dicarbonic acids, purine compounds, inorganic acids of the group of halogens and chalcogens, and their salts, phosphoric acids and their salts, alkali metal salts and alkaline earth metal salts, in such quantity and in such a way that the pH of the resulting solution remains above 7; and subsequently foaming the solution with a hardener/foaming-agent solution in the conventional manner.

Amino-resin products, which include aminoplast foams, can be modified by reacting an aminoplast precondensate, which contains an excess of formaldehyde or to which supplemental formaldehyde or another lower monoaldehyde or dialdehyde has been added before processing, with a hardening agent or with a solution of hardening agent, surfactant, and foamer in the presence of an additive that consists of one or more mononuclear or binuclear phenols, phenolic ethers, or acenaphthene derivatives with the overall formulas ##STR1## in which X is H, OH, SO.sub.3 H, Cl, CH.sub.3, or C.sub.2 H.sub.5 andR is H or an alkyl radical, with 1 to 9 carbon atoms, at a pH between about 1 and 2, mixed if necessary with aromatic sulphonic acids, at a pH between about 1 and 2. The modified products can be employed wherever free formaldehyde is undesirable.

Polyurea foam formulations, prepared by reacting a polymeric isocyanate with an aqueous activator component, and having incorporated therein a small but density-lowering and/or compressive strength enhancing amount of a lower-alkanol or alkylenediol, preferably having up to and including six (6) carbon atoms, especially isopropanol, are disclosed.
Abstract:
Plastics are produced by reacting at least one compound containing sulfonic acid groups with at least one aldehyde in the presence of a hydroxy compound in an acidic concentrated aqueous solution having a water content of about 20 to 30% by weight. If a tenside is present the reactants will form a foam. The preferred sulfonic acid-containing compound is the sodium salt of diisobutylnaphthalene sulfonic acid, the preferred hydroxy compound is a phenol, vix. resorcinol, and the preferred aldehyde is formaldehyde which may be formed in situ from hexamethylenetetramine, paraformaldehyde, trioxane, or the like.
Abstract:
Transparent plastic cover curtains are suspended from rods at the warp beam and cloth beam ends of the weaving machine. The curtains are of multi-part construction to allow lifting of individual parts to gain access to the machine parts, the warp beam and the cloth beam. The curtains allow the warp and cloth beams to be included in the air paths to an air cleaning duct.
Abstract:
Removable bearer members in the form of rails are removably mounted on studs at the picking and catching side. The bearer members allow the air duct to be moved horizontally out of the vertical plane of the shafts of the shedding mechanism so as to permit removal of the shafts during a warp beam change.
