To reduce manufacturing costs, the flange is molded onto the protective tube as one piece. The protective tube is manufactured as a deep-drawn part, and a trimming edge remaining after deep drawing on the end side is used as a securing flange.

    摘要: A gas sensor, in particular for determining the content of gases in the exhaust of an internal combustion engine, has a contact part carrier composed of two opposing, externally symmetrical half-shells, engaging in and contacting the terminal end of a sensor which runs axially and is installed in a tubular protective sleeve, with the half-shells of the contact part carrier being held together by a spring element. The spring element is designed to exert only a low clamping force on the half-shells of the contact part carrier in a first bracing step when the contact part carrier is pre-mounted on the terminal end of the sensor, so that the sensor can still be inserted easily between the two half-shells. In a second bracing step it presses from all sides against the two half-shells due to the inside wall of the protective sleeve and pushes them against the supporting contact points with a greater force than in the first bracing step.

The sealing body (19') has formed-on structures that narrow the cross section of the throughgoing hole (42) and are deformed by the sensor element (22) when the sensor element (22) is inserted such that the sensor element (22) is stopped, arrested or fixed in the installed position in the throughgoing hole (42) by the formed-on structures. The facing end faces of the ceramic molded parts (18, 20) and of the sealing body (19') each have form-fitting engaging elements that engage one another and rest against the opposite, touching end faces, which engaging elements orient the ceramic molded parts (18, 20) and the sealing body (19') radially such that the respective throughgoing holes (32, 42, 52) extend in alignment with one another.

The additional seal is comprised of a pre-pressed powder material and has a porosity which is lower than that of the two sealing bodies. The two sealing bodies and the additional seal are compressed together within the longitudinal bore in use, whereby at least the additional seal is deformed so that the sensor element is sealed in a gap-free manner within the longitudinal bore. The pre-pressed powder material of the additional seal may consist essentially of a ductile metal, which may be one of nickel or copper, or graphite which may be fiber-reinforced.
