    摘要: An optical information recording method in which a digital signal subjected to pulse width modulation is overwritten, by using one laser spot, on an optical disk including a first dielectric film, a recording film, a second dielectric film and a reflecting film stacked on a substrate in this order; the recording film having composition defined by a formula Ge.sub.x Sb.sub.y Te.sub.z satisfying 45.ltoreq.z.ltoreq.55.5, 0.5.ltoreq.y/(x+y).ltoreq.0.72 and x+y+z=100; the recording film having a thickness of 10 to 35 nm; the second dielectric film having a thickness of 5 to 40 nm; the reflecting film having a thickness of 35 nm or more; the optical information recording method comprising the steps of: converting each of a plurality of pulses contained in the digital signal, into a pulse train composed of pulses; and modulating a laser power between an erasing level and a recording level so as to overwrite the digital signal on the optical disk.

It is also possible perform signal reproduction equivalent to conventional concave-convex pit methodology, but without being accompanied by resulting media deformation, thereby improving the recording density. It is easy to interchange with optical recording media of the write-once and read-only types, and, furthermore, it is possible to erase and rewrite at will.

    摘要: A recording apparatus overwrites an input signal having pulse duration periods and pulse spacing periods to an optical disk by irradiation of a laser beam to form recording marks corresponding to the pulse duration periods. The apparatus includes a detector for detecting a leading edge of the pulse duration period and for producing a start signal thereupon, another detector for detecting a trailing edge of the pulse duration period and for producing a stop signal thereupon, a pattern setting circuit for setting a predetermined basic pattern, and a pattern generator for generating the basic pattern from its beginning in response to the start signal and for terminating the generation of the basic pattern in response to the stop signal. The apparatus further includes a circuit for forming a modulated signal using a full or portion of the basic pattern produced from the pattern generator. The laser output is produced in accordance with the modulated signal.

    摘要: A read/write optical disk system for performing high-density recording, reproduction and erasing of information signals by utilizing reversible structural changes between the crystalline and amorphous states of a chalcogenide glass film or the like and a recording, reproducing and erasing method therefor. In the method of this invention, during the period of recording and erasing, respectively, an exposed film area is first heated beyond its melting point to obtain a random state of its atomic arrangement and the rate of cooling from this melted state is controlled so as to obtain a recorded state or an erased state. This method is realized in the system by arranging a plurality of laser spots of different intensities and lengths in proximity to each other on the same track thereby ensuring high-quality erasing involving no danger of any incomplete erasure.

To solve this problem, an incident side of the laser beam for recording identification data on a single-layer optical disk 5 and a double-layer optical disk 6 is the opposite side of a substrate 1 upon which user data is recorded. From this structure, even in a double-layer optical disk 6, the recording is not affected by the recording layer of a second layer 12b and the like. Therefore, in the double-layer optical disk 6, identification data of the medium can be recorded under the same conditions as the single-layer optical disk 5.
