    Abstract: This application provides a communication method and a communication apparatus. In this method, a session management function network element obtains routing information corresponding to a second data network access identifier, obtains an address of an edge application server corresponding to a service accessed by a terminal device; determines the second data network access identifier based on the address of the edge application server; determines, based on the routing information corresponding to the second data network access identifier, a packet processing rule corresponding to the server, and sends the packet processing rule to a user plane function network element.

    Abstract: Example communication methods and apparatus are described. One example method includes determining a first encapsulation identifier corresponding to an Ethernet session by a control plane network element and sending the first encapsulation identifier corresponding to the Ethernet session to a user plane network element, where the first encapsulation identifier is used to instruct the user plane network element to process a data packet corresponding to the Ethernet session based on the first encapsulation identifier. The terminal device determines the first encapsulation identifier corresponding to the Ethernet session and encapsulates an uplink data packet based on the first encapsulation identifier, where the uplink data packet is a data packet triggered by an application program bound to the Ethernet session. The encapsulated data packet is mapped to the Ethernet session corresponding to the first encapsulation identifier for transmission based on the first encapsulation identifier.

    Abstract: A communication method and apparatus are provided. In the method, an SMF sends first information to a first user plane network element, where the first information indicates the first user plane network element to send a report message to the SMF when receiving a first DNS response message that meets a first condition, and the report message includes information about an application server indicated by the first DNS response message or information about a data network corresponding to the application server. The first user plane network element sends the report message to the SMF when determining that the received first DNS response message meets the first condition. The SMF inserts the local session anchor based on the report message.

    Abstract: This application discloses a load relocation method, apparatus, and a system. The method includes determining, by a communications network entity, a target access management entity for load relocation; and sending, to an access network entity, an identifier of an original access management entity and an identifier of the target access management entity or an address of the target access management entity with respect to the access network entity. The access network entity sends a message from UE to the target access management entity based on the identifier of the original access management entity carried in the message from the UE. In the foregoing solution, signaling overheads in a load relocation process are reduced and load relocation efficiency is improved.

    Abstract: A communication method implemented by an apparatus includes that a source access network element sends information of a unicast quality of service (QoS) flow of a protocol data unit (PDU) session corresponding to a multicast QoS flow of a multicast broadcast service (MBS) to a target access network element in a handover procedure. The target access network element forwards the information to a session management network element. The session management network element then indicates a user plane network element connected to the target access network element to send data of the MBS to a terminal device through the target access network element and by using a resource of the unicast QoS flow corresponding to the multicast QoS flow of the MBS.
