Abstract: A method for optimizing migration efficiency of a data file over network is provided. Specifically, a total time of compression time of the data file, transfer time of the data file over the network, and decompression time of the data file, is minimized by adaptively selecting compression methods to compress each data block of the data file. For selecting a compression method for a data block, information entropy of the data block is analyzed, and a real status of computing and system resources is considered. Further, trade-off among the resource usage, compassion speed and compression ratio is made to calculate an optimized transmission solution over the network for each data block of the data file.

Abstract: A method for scheduling MapReduce tasks includes receiving a set of task statistics corresponding to task execution within a MapReduce job, estimating a completion time for a set of tasks to be executed to provide an estimated completion time, calculating a soft decision point based on a convergence of a workload distribution corresponding to a set of executed tasks, calculating a hard decision point based on the estimated completion time for the set of tasks to be executed, determining a selected decision point based on the soft decision point and the hard decision point, and scheduling upcoming tasks for execution based on the selected decision point. The method may also include estimating a map task completion time and estimating a shuffle operation completion time. A computer program product and computer system corresponding to the method are also disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to water leakage detection. Data obtained by a smart electricity meter during a predefined time period is collected, where the smart electricity meter is associated with a water-consuming unit. Usages of certain electric appliances in the water-consuming unit during the predefined time period are determined based on the collected data. The electricity consumption of those appliances is correlated to water consumption. The legitimate water consumption of the water-consuming unit during the predefined time period is then determined based on the usages of the electric appliances.

Abstract: Techniques for generating a natural language question template for an artificial intelligence question and answer (QA) system are disclosed. A graph database query relating to a QA system is parsed using a predefined schema. The parsing includes extracting a first plurality of values from the graph database query relating to a where clause in the graph database query, extracting a second plurality of values from the graph database query relating to a return clause in the graph database query, identifying a QA template rule relating to the graph database query, based on a match clause in the graph database query. A natural language question template is generated based on the first plurality of values, the second plurality of values, and the identified QA template rule. The natural language question template is suitable for use by the QA system as part of generating a response to a natural language question.

A risk score that the patient will experience the selected disease outcome may be determined. The determining may use the patient data. Intervention options may be generated based on the patient data and by accessing a medical record data structure. An intervention effect for each of the intervention options may be determined. The intervention effect may change the risk score. The intervention effects may be compared. A recommendation of at least one of the intervention options may be provided based on the comparing of the intervention effects.
