Abstract: According to one embodiment, a liquid crystal display device includes a polarizing layer, first and second substrate units, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate unit has first and second surfaces. The first surface is on the polarizing layer side. The second surface is on a side opposite to the first surface. The first substrate unit includes first and second pixel electrodes, and an opening region. The first and second pixel electrodes are disposed on the first surface. The second substrate unit is provided between the first substrate unit and the polarizing layer. The second substrate unit has third and fourth surfaces. The third surface is on the first substrate unit side. The fourth surface is on a side opposite to the third surface. The second substrate unit includes an opposing electrode on the third surface. The liquid crystal layer is provided between the first and third surfaces.

Abstract: In a display device, a plurality of display panels displaying an image formed by a plurality of pixels are coupled to each other. Each of the display panels includes a display surface having a display region and a non-display region surrounding the display region, and a polarizer provided on the display surface. The polarizer covers the display region and a part of the polarizer extends to the non-display region. A pair of display panels to be coupled to each other are arranged such that parts of the non-display regions overlap with each other. One display panel is located at a display surface side of the other display panel, and the other display panel is located at a rear surface side of the one display panel, the rear surface side being an opposite side to the display surface side.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes a plurality of pixels each including a plurality of sub-pixels. Each of the sub-pixels is arranged around center of the corresponding pixel and divided into a plurality of display regions to perform N-bit area coverage modulation by a combination of the display regions. The display regions are arranged in such a manner that: a display region corresponding to a least significant bit of the area coverage modulation is arranged closest to the center of the corresponding pixel; and a display region corresponding to a higher significant bit of the area coverage modulation is arranged around the center of the pixel and further from the center of the corresponding pixel (N is a natural number of 2 or more).
