摘要: A system and method for corrosion problems in magnetic media resulting from moisture penetrating through the carbon layer into the magnetic layer by diffusion or other methods are overcome by processing the carbon overcoat to stop and/or inhibit the moisture penetration. The process involves removing moisture channels from protective overcoats of thin film magnetic media by irradiating the protective overcoat with ultraviolet (UV) radiation in an inert hydrophobic chemical environment. Afterwards, the thin film magnetic media can be removed into ambient atmosphere where it is coated with a lubricant.

摘要: According to some embodiments, a Single-Instruction/Multiple-Data averaging operation is presented. The averaging operation averages multiple sets of data elements, for example, two data elements each from a first source and a second source, producing a set of averages. In at least one embodiment, in a first adder stage, a first plurality of data elements are added to a second plurality of data elements, generating a plurality of intermediate results. In a second adder stage, multiple different combinations of the plurality of intermediate results are added together, generating a plurality of sum results. The two least significant bits of each sum result are discarded.

摘要: A system and method for improving the durability and reliability of recording media used in hard drives is disclosed. A protective overcoat made of diamond like carbon (DLC) is first deposited over a magnetic layer. A lubricant layer, typically containing Moresco lubricant or a perfluoropolyether (PFPE), is then deposited over the protective overcoat. Finally, the lubricant layer is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light for a period of time.

摘要: An electronic device with an ability to perform touch detection includes an ultrasound touch sensor disposed within a housing and configured to detect physical contact with an exterior surface of the housing. The sensor may emit ultrasonic sound waves, receive reflected ultrasonic sound waves reflected from a surface portion corresponding to the physical contact at the exterior surface of the housing, and compare the reflected ultrasonic sound waves to a stored reflection pattern. Based on determining a match between the reflected ultrasonic sound waves and the stored reflection pattern, the electronic device may activate a function. The sensor may be part of an ultrasound-on-a-chip device.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for providing short-circuit protection for a resistive AC load, wherein the load is connected with an AC power supply through an active controlled switch controlled by a controller. The method for providing short-circuit protection for the resistive AC load comprises the following steps of: turning on the active controlled switch within a first conduction angle range; obtaining the mean current value of the load through a current detection circuit; and determining whether the mean current value of the load is greater than a default value or not, wherein, if so, the active controlled switch is controlled to be turned off, and if not, the active controlled switch is controlled to be turned on. The invention also relates to a device and a switch for providing short-circuit protection for the resistive AC load. The method, the device and the switch for providing short-circuit protection for the resistive AC load, which are provided by the invention, have the advantages that: when the switch is required to be turned on, the switch is turned on first within the first conduction angle range which cannot cause damage to the switch and the circuit and then whether the switch is continued to be turned on or not is determined by determining whether the resistive AC load is subjected to a short circuit or not through the obtained current value; therefore, the switch and the circuit which are connected with the load can be protected while the resistive AC load in a short-circuit condition can be detected.
