Abstract:
The shoe ornament is configured for use with footwear. The shoe ornament attaches to the upper of the footwear. The shoe ornament comprises one or more straps, a plurality of fasteners, and a plurality of cufflinks. The plurality of cufflinks and the plurality of fasteners attach the one or more straps to the footwear. Each cufflink selected from the plurality of cufflinks attaches a subset of straps selected from the one or more straps to a fastener selected from the plurality of fasteners. Each of the plurality of fasteners attaches to the upper of the footwear.
Abstract:
A locker includes a pair of spaced-apart upstanding sidewalls and at least one compartment defined between the upstanding sidewalls. A drying compartment includes an upper and lower horizontal panels, at least one of the upper and lower panels being hollow and extending at least partially between the sidewalls of the locker. A pair of compartment sidewalls are connected to the panels, at least one of the compartment sidewalls being in fluid communication with the at least one hollow upper and lower panels. A perforated rear panel is connected to the compartment sidewalls and the upper and lower panels and is in fluid communication with an interior of the drying compartment. At least one fan is disposed in one of the compartment sidewalls, wherein the fan draws air from the at least one hollow upper and lower panels, directs it into the interior of the drying compartment, and the air is exhausted from the compartment though the perforated rear panel.
Abstract:
A multimedia conferencing system includes a loud speaker system, one or more microphones for receiving a local audio signal and a remote audio signal, a state machine and an echo canceller that operates in conjunction with two reference signals to remove substantially all of a feedback signal component in the local audio signal that results from reinforcing and playing the local audio signal over the loud speaker system. The state machine operates to detect that only the local audio is active, and if so controls the operation of the echo canceller such that only the feedback component of the local audio signal is removed and the local audio signal is not suppressed.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a linear accelerator in which a rotatable conductive vane is employed to vary the electromagnetic coupling between adjacent accelerating cells. The vane is sealed off from the rest of the linear accelerator by an insulating partition, so the pressure around the vane can be higher than in the rest of the accelerator. This greatly simplifies the mechanisms which may be used to control the rotation of the vane, allowing a higher bakeout temperature in manufacture and a higher rate of rotation in use.
Abstract:
Flat panel images obtained during concurrent radiotherapy typically suffer from artefacts that relate to the pulses of MV energy. For a radiotherapeutic apparatus comprising a pulsed source of therapeutic radiation, a detector comprising control circuitry, an array of pixel elements, each having a signal output and an ‘enable’ input and being arranged to release a signal via the signal output upon being triggered by the enable input, and an interpreter arranged to receive the signal outputs of the pixel elements, the interpreter having a reset control, there are advantages in the control circuitry being adapted to reset the interpreter after a pulse of therapeutic radiation, prior to enabling at least one pixel of the array. Alternatively, the control circuitry can prompt a plurality of pulses by the pulsed source and then enable a plurality of pixels of the array. In effect, the therapeutic pulses are grouped into a short flurry of pulses. It is therefore preferred that the plurality of pixels comprises substantially all the pixels of the array.
Abstract:
A method of for treating a hydrocarbon fuel comprises applying a plurality of shock waves to the fuel at a frequency and intensity such as to increase the combustion efficiency of the fuel. An apparatus for treating a hydrocarbon fuel comprises a fuel treatment chamber; an inlet for introducing a hydrocarbon fuel to be treated into the treatment chamber; an outlet for removing a treated hydrocarbon fuel from the treatment chamber; and-a-means for imparting a plurality of shock waves to fuel within the treatment chamber at a frequency and intensity such as to increase the combustion efficiency of the fuel. The apparatus is particularly suitable for installation in the fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method and apparatus for handling tubulars and drilling with tubulars such as casing into a formation. In one aspect of the invention, the apparatus comprises a circulating head and a cementing head operatively connectible to a gripping member. The circulating head is used to circulate drilling fluid while drilling with casing, and the cementing head is used to cement the casing string within the formation at a desired depth. The present invention also relates to methods and apparatus for isolating a tensile load from a drilling apparatus rotated by a top drive. In one aspect, the present invention provides a load isolator apparatus having an isolator body operatively connected to the top drive and a torque body at least partially disposed in the isolator body. In operation, the bearing assembly transfers the tensile load from the torque body to the isolator body.
Abstract:
A riser monitoring assembly is provided to monitor and manage a riser extending between subsea well equipment and a floating vessel. A riser measurement instrument module is connected adjacent a selected portion of the riser provides dynamic orientation data for the selected portion of the riser. A computer having a memory associated therewith and riser system analyzing management software stored thereon is in communication with the riser measurement module to process data received therefrom. The riser monitoring assembly can utilize real-time orientation data for the selected portion of the riser to analyze the riser dynamic behavior, to determine a model of the real-time structure of the riser, to determine and manage the existence of vortex induced vibration, to determine and manage riser stress levels, to manage riser inspection and riser maintenance, and to supplement determination and management of the position of the vessel.
Abstract:
Detecting a pulse of a signal includes receiving the signal and a light beam. The signal drives a spatial light modulator to modulate the light beam, where the complex amplitude of the modulated light beam is proportional to the signal current. The modulated light beam passes through an optical system and is detected by an optical detector array. A processor identifies a portion of the signal comprising the pulse.
