摘要： A method of manufacturing a golf ball is disclosed. A cover is molded through use of either a thermoplastic resin having a group capable of reacting with an isocyanate group or a thermoplastic resin containing a compound having two or more groups capable of reacting with an isocyanate group. Subsequently, a polyisocyanate compound is caused to permeate into the surface layer of the cover to thereby cause the reaction between the polyisocyanate compound and the group(s) capable of reacting with the isocyanate group. As a result, a modified layer having excellent properties is formed at the surface of the cover formed from thermoplastic resin. In this case, a non-yellowing polyurethane resin is preferably used as the thermoplastic resin having a group capable of reacting with an isocyanate group, and 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) is preferably used as the polyisocyanate compound.

摘要： A method for producing a golf ball, including a spherical elastic inner layer having a large number of projections and a thermoplastic resin outer layer covering the inner layer, employs a mold comprising an upper mold and a lower mold with a spherical cavity formed in the inside and a parting surface provided at a position corresponding to an equator of the spherical cavity. A plurality of columnar support pins each have a tip width sufficient for supporting at least two projections on the inner layer, the pins elongating into the cavity reciprocally movably toward the parting surface. The inner layer is supported at the cavity center portion of the mold by the support pins, from above and below at the projection positions. An external layer resin is injected into the space between the inner layer and the cavity wall surface surface, forming the inner and outer layers.

摘要： Disclosed is a golf ball including a metallic layer disposed between an inner core and an outer core. The distance between the center of the inner core and the inner surface of the metallic layer is not greater than 15 mm, and the weight of the metallic layer is 0.2 g to 4.0 g. The metallic layer is preferably formed from nickel and through plating. The moment of inertia of the golf ball is reduced without impairing physical properties of a core rubber. The golf ball exhibit an excellent spin motion while maintaining good resilience.

摘要： A golf ball has a coating layer made of a thermoplastic resin and formed by hot-melt coating at the surface portion thereof. For example, a two-piece golf ball is produced by enclosing a solid core with a cover material; conducting mark stamping directly on the surface of the cover material; forming, by hot-melt coating, a transparent coating layer made of a thermoplastic resin as an outermost layer; and then conducting dimple processing. The coating has a thickness in the range of 15-700 .mu.m. The coating allows the dimples to be precisely shaped and sharp edged and can be given sufficient durability and functions to improve spin properties and travel properties.

摘要： A wound golf ball has a wound core enclosed with a multilayer cover. The wound core consists of a center ball and a thread rubber layer. The multilayer cover includes an inner layer, an outer layer, and an adhesive layer therebetween. The adhesive layer forms a firm joint between the cover inner and outer layers whereby the ball is improved in restitution, spin and durability. The outer cover is formed of a non-yellowing thermoplastic polyurethane. The cover outer layer is injection molded on the adhesive layer.
