    摘要: A genetically engineered micro-organism having an operative metabolic pathway producing cinnamoyl-CoA and producing pinosylvin therefrom by the action of a stilbene synthase is used for pinosylvin production. Said cinnamic acid may be formed from L-phenylalanine by a L-phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) which is one accepting phenylalanine as a substrate and producing cinammic acid therefrom, preferably such that if the PAL also accepts tyrosine as a substrate and forms coumaric acid therefrom, the ratio Km(phenylalanine)/Km(tyrosine) for said PAL is less than 1:1 and if said micro-organism produces a cinammate-4-hydroxylase enzyme (C4H), the ratio Kcat(PAL)/Kcat(C4H) is at least 2:1.

    摘要: A metal-ceramic laminar-band multi matrix composite, intended for use in oxidizing, reductive or inert media at temperatures up to 1500.div.2800.degree. C. and a method of the manufacture is provided. The composite material contains up to 85 vol. % of an oxide component, for example, yttria, zirconia, hafnia, up to 85 vol. % of a compound devoid of oxygen, such as zirconium carbide, and 15.div.75 vol. % of a refractor metal, such as tungsten, molybdenum or chromium. Each of the above mentioned components of the composite exists in the form of a plurality of curved tapes. The tapes of every component are joined with the tapes of other components forming multilayer curved band-like chips, which are randomly interlaced in a compact 3-dimensioned pattern of the chips. The novel composites have high mechanical properties, are thermal- and crack resistant, and have a good thermal-shock and oxidation-erosion resistance at temperatures of 1200.degree. C. to 2800.degree. C.

    摘要: The process relates to the recovering of essentially pure acetylene from the gaseous out-put stream from a coal to acetylene conversion process. A plasma arc generator or other high energy type reactor can be used for the conversion to coal. The gaseous out-put stream is initially treated in an acid gas removal stage by absorbing HCN and H.sub.2 S in an organic solvent such as N-methyl pyrrolidone and scrubbing with a caustic agent such as NaOH to remove CO.sub.2. In a second stage, the gaseous out-put stream is scrubbed with the organic solvent to provide a sweet gas treatment and remove essentially pure acetylene as a product. In a third stage, the second stage gases are first hydrogenated, then desulfurized and then methanated. The out-put from the third stage is recycled to the coal to acetylene conversion process. In a fourth stage, the organic solvent from said second stage is refined and recycled to the first stage and/or second stage.
