Abstract: Each of a portable device and an in-vehicle unit is provided with respective GPS receivers to determine a portable device position and a vehicle position. The portable device transmits a response signal including the portable device position in response to a request signal of the in-vehicle unit. The in-vehicle unit, only in a case where it is determined that the portable device position included in the response signal is within a predetermined area around the vehicle position, performs control of a lock/unlock state of a vehicle door in accordance with the identification result of the ID code included in the response signal. Accordingly, it is surely prevented that the door is remotely controlled by the portable device at far distances from the vehicle.

Abstract: When a compartment internal transmitter of a vehicle-side unit transmits a request signal with vehicle doors opened, at least one of strength of the request signal and sensitivity of a hand-held device to receive the request signal are set at a level lower than a normal level. Thus, even when the vehicle doors are in an open state, a communication area of the compartment internal transmitter is prevented from being extended to cover the outside of the compartment. As a result, when the holder of the hand-held device operates any of the vehicle doors from a location outside the vehicle compartment, it is possible to avoid an erroneous assumption that the hand-held device is left behind in the vehicle compartment and to execute a sequence of consecutive operations.

Abstract: An in-vehicle device remote control system includes a vehicle-side device, a main mobile device that returns a first response signal in response to a request signal transmitted from the vehicle-side device, and a sub-mobile device that returns a second response signal in response to the request signal. When the vehicle-side device receives the response signal, it conducts a matching process. Vehicle doors are unlocked automatically when the received response signal is determined to be either the first or the second response signal. Abstract: An entry control system includes a portable device carried by a vehicle user and a biometric sensor attached to a vehicle door. The biometric sensor includes a CCD camera and a shutter. The shutter is moved to uncover the CCD camera only when the portable device is validated. After the biometric sensor detects the biometric information based on a finger print image of the user, the shutter is moved again to cover the CCD camera. Each time the shutter moves, a brush cleans the CCD camera. The vehicle door is enabled to be opened only when the user is validated based on the biometric information.

Abstract: A backup communication is automatically executed if a smart ID does not come back from a portable device though a comparison ECU transmits a smart ID request. In the backup communication, the comparison ECU transmits an immobilized ID request through a coil. The portable device receives the immobilized ID request if a user brings the portable device close to an engine start switch. The portable device transmits the immobilizer ID to comparison ECU. The comparison ECU sends the immobilizer ID to an ID box. The ID box compares the immobilizer ID sent from the comparison ECU with the ID stored therein. If the immobilizer ID corresponds to the stored ID, an engine ECU allows an engine start.

Abstract: A vehicle equipment control system locks vehicle doors by any one of auto-lock and trigger lock systems. In the auto-lock system, a wide communication area is set that covers an entire vehicle compartment is set.
