摘要: Date and time information concerning image files included in the folder is obtained, a time range from the oldest image to the newest image is calculated, and the time range is displayed with folder information. For example, data on shot dates and times recorded as associated information concerning the images or time stamps of the files are used to calculate the time range, and the date range is displayed on a folder icon or on a tab portion of the folder icon. Moreover, a file list displayed last time is stored, the stored file list is compared with a current file list, and only if the both file lists are different from each other, the date and time information is obtained for a different file to recalculate the time range. Thus, the user can infer images included in the folder to some extent and easily retrieve a desired image.

摘要: The communication terminal and a communication system is capable of eliminating necessity of complicated setting inputs related to communication in a communication terminal in performing dial-up connection to a communication apparatus on a network from the communication terminal. Since the communication terminal and the communication system are provided with a receiving device which receives connection information such as a dial-up telephone number, attribute information, a URL, an IP address, gateway information and a DNS that is required for making communication connection to a photograph sharing service on the Internet from a cellular phone and a transmitting and receiving device (transmitting and receiving device) which sends and receives information such as an image to and from the photograph sharing service based on the connection information received from the cellular phone, it becomes possible to eliminate necessity of complicated setting inputs related to communication in an electronic camera in performing dial-up connection to the Internet from the electronic camera.

摘要: A liquid crystal device is constituted by a chiral smectic liquid crystal and a pair of substrates sandwiching the chiral smectic liquid crystal therebetween and each having thereon an electrode for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal. At least one of the substrates being provided with an alignment control film comprising a specific aromatic polyimide which has been subjected to a uniaxial aligning treatment. The chiral smectic liquid crystal assumes bistability in a chiral smectic temperature range when incorporated in a test cell which is not provided with an alignment control film and has been subjected to shearing treatment. In the liquid crystal device including the polyimide alignment control film, the chiral smectic liquid crystal at least has a voltage-transmittance characteristic such that an effective tilt angle and a transmittance continuously change depending on an electric field applied thereto.

摘要: A liquid crystal device is constituted by a pair of oppositely disposed substrates each provided with an alignment control layer, and a liquid crystal layer comprising a liquid crystal material and disposed between the substrates with a spacer member. In the device, the spacer member has an electrical conductivity larger than that of the liquid crystal material. Further, the liquid crystal layer containing the spacer member has a first resistance in a direction of a normal to the substrates in a prescribed temperature range substantially lower than a second resistance of a corresponding liquid crystal layer, in the identical direction, consisting only of the liquid crystal material and having the identical plane area and thickness. The liquid crystal device is effective in providing an improved drive margin in a wide temperature range while suppressing a DC offset voltage component applied to the liquid crystal layer.

摘要: A liquid crystal apparatus comprises scanning electrodes and data electrodes intersecting with each other to form a pixel at each intersection, and a ferroelectric liquid crystal disposed between the scanning electrodes and data electrodes. The apparatus includes a first unit for applying to the scanning electrodes at least two scanning selection signals in at least two vertical scanning periods; the scanning selection signals having mutually different waveforms and each having a pulse of one or the other voltage polarity with respect to the level of a voltage applied a scanning electrode when it is not selected; and a second unit for applying data pulses to the data electrodes in phase with said pulse of one or the other voltage polarity. The first unit and second unit in combination apply a fore voltage pulse to a pixel on a scanning electrode selected by application of the pulse of one or the other voltage polarity prior to each application of a writing voltage formed by combination of the pulse of one or the other polarity and an information pulse. The fore voltage pulse has a polarity opposite to that of the writing voltage and an amplitude which is 1/2 or less of that of the writing voltage.

摘要: A liquid crystal composition is composed of at least three types of mesomorphic compounds. The liquid crystal composition may preferably contain a mesomorphic compound having an indan skeleton represented by the formula (1) or (3) and a mesomorphic compound having a terminal cyclic group represented by the formula (2) or (4). The liquid crystal composition may also preferably further contain an optically active compound to be formulated as a chiral smectic (or ferroelectric) liquid crystal composition. When the chiral smectic liquid crystal composition is disposed between a pair of electrode substrates provided with uniaxial alignment axes, the liquid crystal composition may preferably be placed in an alignment state in C1 uniform alignment, so that a resultant liquid crystal device provides a higher contrast ratio and a wider drive voltage margin.

摘要: A liquid crystal device with little temperature-dependence of drive characteristics, such as response speed, and with good storage stability, can be produced by using a liquid crystal composition, successively assuming SmA (smectic A) phase and SmC* (chiral smectic) phase on temperature decrease. The layer spacing composition has a temperature-dependence of layer spacing d in smectic phase such that the layer spacing d increases, is constant or decreases on temperature decrease in SmA phase temperature range, assumes a first transition point where the layer spacing d abruptly decreases on temperature decrease in vicinity of transition temperature from SmA phase to SmC* phase, and assumes a second transition point where the layer spacing d commences to increase on further temperature decrease below the first transition point in SmC* temperature range.
