Abstract:
An electronic mail system connected to a network includes a section for converting an image of a document surface into corresponding document image data, and a section for compressing the document image data into compression-resultant image data. The electronic mail system also includes a section for converting the compression-resultant image data into corresponding image data of a given electronic-mail format, a section for receiving information of an electronic-mail destination address, and a section for transmitting the image data of the electronic-mail format toward the electronic-mail destination address via the network. The electronic mail system may further include a section for receiving image data in an electronic mail, a section for converting the received image data into corresponding received image data of a given facsimile format, a section for expanding the received image data of the facsimile format into expansion-resultant image data, and a section for printing the expansion-resultant image data.
Abstract:
An electronic-mail reception apparatus has a body and includes a facsimile receiver that negotiates with a sender before receiving image data, to receive image data in facsimile format from the sender via a telephone network. An electronic-mail receiver receives image data in an electronic mail format from a mail sender via a communication network, a converter converts the image data in the electronic mail format into image data in the facsimile format, and an output section outputs the converted image data. An error transmission section, when the data format that the electronic-mail receiver receives is different from a predetermined data format of the image data in an electronic-mail format, transmits an error message to the mail sender. The facsimile receiver, the electronic-mail receiver, the converter, the output section and the error transmission section are integrated in the body of the apparatus.
Abstract:
An electronic-mail apparatus is provided including an operational panel having a start-key that starts a transmission operation and input key that designates one of an electronic-mail destination address and a facsimile destination address. An acceptor accepts image data. A compressor compresses the accepted image data. A facsimile transmitter transmits the compressed image data to the designated facsimile destination address via a telephone network. A converter converts the compressed image data into an electronic-mail format. An electronic-mail transmitter transmits the electronic-mail formatted image data to the designated electronic-mail destination address. The operational panel, acceptor, compressor, facsimile transmitter, converter, and electronic-mail transmitter are integrated in a body of the apparatus. The acceptor, compressor, converter and electronic-mail transmitter are sequentially operated in order to transmit the electronic-mail formatted image data, when the start-key is actuated, after the electronic-mail destination address has been designated.
Abstract:
An electronic-mail apparatus includes an operational panel having a mode selection key to select one of a facsimile mode and an e-mail mode, and a start key. An acceptor accepts image data, when the start key is operated. A facsimile transmitter negotiates with a facsimile destination, and transmits the image data to the facsimile destination via a telephone network when the facsimile mode is selected by operation of the mode selection key. A converter converts the accepted image data into an electronic-mail format image data when the e-mail mode is selected by operation of the mode selection key. An e-mail transmitter transmits the electronic-mail format image data to an e-mail destination when the e-mail mode is selected by operation of the mode selection key.
Abstract:
Two kinds of mail addresses, one for reception and the other for a relay, are stored beforehand. A relay is permitted only if the mail address of the received E-mail data is a relay mail address. A password name is deleted from the mail address of the received E-mail whose relay is permitted. Said mail address whose password name has been deleted is used as part of header information and transmitted to a destination terminal together with data.
Abstract:
A communication result notifying method for notifying a result of a process result in a facsimile machine or a printing machine to a notification destination node, comprises the following steps. A step of obtaining an e-mail address of the notification destination node from facsimile data or print, received via a LAN from a requesting node, a step of detecting a result of a process result in the facsimile machine or printing machine, and a step of notifying the detected process result to the e-mail address of the notification destination node.

Abstract:
A particular image written in a particular paper of a particular paper size is scanned by a scanner to produce image data, a format of the image data is changed to a mail format to change the image data to mail data, the particular paper size is added to the mail data, and the mail data is transmitted from a transmitting side to a receiving side through a LAN by an electronic mail. In the receiving side, the mail data is changed to reproduced image data, and it is judged whether or not the particular paper size of the particular paper is larger than a prescribed paper size treatable on the receiving side. In cases where the particular paper size is larger than the prescribed paper size, the reproduced image data is thinned out to produce adjusted image data, and a downsized image is printed on a prescribed paper of the prescribed paper size according to the adjusted image data. Accordingly, even though an image written in a paper of a paper size not treatable on the receiving side is transmitted from the transmitting side to the receiving side, because the image is downsized, the image can be reproduced on the receiving side.

Abstract:
An IP telephone system includes a source IP telephone apparatus, a destination telephone apparatus, a Web server and an ENUM server. The IP telephone apparatuses are connected to an IP network. The Web server stores control information for controlling an answering machine function. The control information corresponds to a telephone number assigned to the source or destination IP telephone apparatus. The ENUM server stores a NAPTR resource record in which a URI specifies link information related to the control information stored in the Web server. In the IP telephone system, the IP telephone apparatus that has received a call transmits, to the ENUM server, a query for a NAPTR record corresponding to an intended recipient's telephone number. The IP telephone apparatus then transmits, to the Web server, a request for the control information corresponding to the URI included in the obtained NAPTR resource record, and controls the answering machine function according to the obtained control information.
