Abstract:
An information processing system transmits and receives sound data through a switching equipment. The information processing system includes: a transmitting end image forming apparatus that has a facsimile function to transmit communication sounds through the switching equipment; a receiving end image forming apparatus that has a facsimile function to receive the communication sounds through the switching equipment; a controller that generates a sound recording start command to start a recording of the communication sounds, and transmits the sound recording start command to the receiving end image forming apparatus; and a sound recorder that starts the recording of the communication sounds in the receiving end image forming apparatus when the receiving end image forming apparatus receives the sound recording start command.
Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, and machine-readable articles of manufacture improve reliability and scalability of a messaging system. In some embodiments, the system's configuration data and subscriber information are stored in a central repository of a core node, and replicated to one or more non-core nodes. Data replication may be performed in real-time or near real-time, periodically, sporadically, or otherwise. Nodes may rely on the replicated data to provide the system's subscribers and outside callers with services that do not involve updating of configuration or subscriber data. In this way, the non-core nodes may continue to process calls when the core node is unavailable. For example, the non-core nodes can route calls to the appropriate subscribers without relying on the core. As another example, the non-core nodes can take messages from callers when the core node is unavailable. The messages may be queued for posting and delivery when the core node becomes available.
Abstract:
Agencies oftentimes desire to monitor personnel in the field during the course of their duties. To provide flexible monitoring capabilities to agencies, a common mobile device such as a mobile phone is converted for use as a radio-based listening system to collect and transmit audio data. Phone features and accessories are leveraged to collect additional data for transmission. Collected data is streamed or otherwise transmitted to monitoring devices at the agency or in the field for operational oversight and recordation.
Abstract:
A method and system for integrating telecommunication session output with one or more applications are provided herein. The method for integrating telecommunication session output with one or more applications includes communicating with one or more second devices in a telecommunication session using a first application disposed on a first device; tracking attributes associated with the telecommunication session; recording at least a portion of the telecommunication session on the first device to produce a session recording; and storing the attributes and at least one of the session recording, or a text transcription of the session recording in a second application on the first device.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing messages and providing notifications regarding the same are described. An optional embodiment includes a telecommunications interface, a data network interface, and an answering system coupled to the telecommunications interface and the data network interface, the call processing system configured to receive a first call from a caller via the telecommunications interface, store a message from the caller, transmit a message notification using the data network to the intended recipient of the call via which the intended recipient can access the message, and transmit information related to the intended recipient's receipt of the message.
Abstract:
A system for transmitting voice messages from a caller location to a receiver location using a plurality of computers each coupled to another through a network such as the Internet. The system also has a plurality of handheld portable recording-delivery devices which are coupled to the network. Each handheld portable recording-delivery device can convert voice input into digital data for transmission through the network. Destination information for the digital data being transmitted is based on input from a touch pad on the handheld portable recording-delivery device.
Abstract:
Novel tools and techniques for providing a subscriber with converged voice services, in which calls to one of the subscriber's telephone numbers is routed to some or all of the subscriber's telephone numbers (e.g., sequentially or simultaneously, depending on system configuration and/or subscriber preference). Some implementations employ a VoIP switch to handle call distribution among the subscriber's various phone lines, even if some (or all) of the subscribers telephone lines are not VoIP lines. In such implementations, upon receiving an incoming call directed to one of the subscriber's lines, a service switching point will route the call to a VoIP switch. Instructed by an application server, the VoIP switch will set up call legs (e.g., via the PSTN) to one or more of the subscribers' telephone numbers. Optionally, when one of the call legs is answered, the application server will instruct the VoIP switch to disconnect the other call legs.
Abstract:
A system and apparatus for managing calls to voice mail is disclosed. A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a voicemail system having a controller element that receives a call redirected away from a targeted communication device without providing the targeted communication device notice of the call responsive to a voicemail redirection request supplied by signaling information associated with the call. Additional embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for providing simple unified messaging. A method incorporating teachings of the present disclosure may include receiving an indication of a call from a calling party to a called party and answering the call at a premises of the called party. The calling party may be prompted to leave a message, and at least a portion of the message may be saved as an audio file. In response to recognizing that the calling party left the message, an outgoing message may be prepared. The audio file may be attached to the outgoing message, which may be addressed to a network node associated with a unified messaging mailbox of the called party. The message may then be sent from the premises to the network node. By employing teachings disclosed herein, a user may be able to make use of existing premises components and equipment to implement a network-based unified messaging system.
Abstract:
A system and method for implementing do-not-disturb during media content. Do-not-disturb is implemented during playback of the media content in response to a selection of media content. An incoming communication is received. The incoming communications is sent directly to voice mail during the playback.
