    Abstract: A method and apparatus for a user equipment (UE) performing a random access to a network are disclosed. For this end, the UE selects a first carrier for the random access among multiple carriers, and transmits a first random access preamble for a first random access procedure via the first carrier to the network. Then, the UE applies backoff time to the first carrier and reselects a second carrier for the first random access procedure among the multiple carriers, when the first random access procedure is determined as not successful; and transmits a second random access preamble via the second carrier to the network. Here, reselecting the second carrier is performed before the backoff time applied to the first carrier ends.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for performing device-to-device communication in a wireless communication system. The method includes generating identification information of a D2D user equipment that supports the D2D communication as identification information for D2D discovery using a hash function, the identification information for discovery includes information of a first length for indicating a division region of the beacon signals and information of a second length included in the beacon. The information of a first length and the information of a second length are smaller than identification information of the D2D user equipment. Accordingly, by performing discovery for the D2D user equipment through the identification information having shorter length than prior art, and performing discovery in a range where the discovery is available through the region in which the beacon signals are allocated, advantages of performing the D2D discovery effectively are provided.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling relaxed measurement in a wireless communication system is provided. A wireless device receives, from a network, a first measurement configuration including at least one of relaxed measurement conditions. A wireless device receives, from the network, a second measurement configuration including a frequency set to be measured in an idle state and/or an inactive state. A wireless device determines to perform a relaxed measurement or no measurement on at least one of frequency which is not included in the frequency set included in the second measurement configuration, based on that the at least one of the relaxed measurement conditions is met.
