Abstract:
A method includes completing a payment transaction using a payment-enabled mobile device. The method further includes prompting a user to perform a user authentication process with respect to the payment-enabled mobile device. The prompting occurs after completion of the payment transaction and prior to commencing another payment transaction using the payment-enabled mobile device.
Abstract:
A method of operating a payment-enabled mobile device includes detecting, by the mobile device, that the mobile device is in proximity to a non-retail contactless transaction terminal. The method further includes permitting operation of an application program in the mobile device. The permitting of operation of the application program is in response to the detected proximity of the non-retail contactless transaction terminal. The operation of the application program is to engage in a transaction with the non-retail contactless transaction terminal while bypassing a user verification feature of the application program.
Abstract:
In a payment-enabled smartphone, a shared cardholder verification method (CVM) applet serves a number of mobile payment cardlets. The shared CVM applet validates CVM information input by a user of the smartphone and in response issues a CVM token. The CVM token is passed to a particular one of the mobile payment cardlets that is selected for a current transaction. The selected mobile payment cardlet submits the CVM token back to the shared CVM applet for verification. Upon verifying the CVM token, the shared CVM applet enables the selected mobile payment cardlet to perform the current transaction.
Abstract:
A wheel assembly for installation on a shopping cart to retro-fit the shopping cart for facilitating self-checkout. The wheel assembly may include a support structure and a wheel rotatably supported on the support structure. The wheel assembly may further include a rechargeable battery supported by the support structure and a charging module supported on the support structure. In addition, the wheel assembly may include a force-detection module configured to provide a signal related to an item event in which an item is deposited within the shopping cart. Still further, the wheel assembly may include a processing and communications unit configured to receive the signal from the force-detection module. The processing and communications unit may transmit the signal to a device that is separate from the wheel assembly.
Abstract:
A method including receiving a query request for a registration status of a payment account number (PAN) with an electronic receipt service; determining, in reply to the query request, whether the PAN is registered with the electronic receipt service; determining an electronic receipt handling option associated with the PAN; and sending a response including at least an electronic receipt destination address, the electronic receipt destination address being an address to which an electronic receipt associated with the PAN of the query request is to be sent.
Abstract:
A payment-enabled mobile device such as a “smart phone” incorporates risk management features applicable when used for a contactless payment transactions. In some embodiments, a mobile device processor includes a non-volatile memory storing a first counter and an associated first accumulator used for financial risk management purposes, and storing a second counter and an associated second accumulator used for enforcing a cardholder verification requirement, and storing a payment application program. In some embodiments, features govern when cardholder verification is required for consummation of the current transaction, and such features may be configurable by the payment card account issuer and/or the user of the mobile device.
Abstract:
A payment-enabled mobile device receives, during a first tap of the mobile device on a proximity reader component of a point of sale (POS) terminal, first transaction context data for a current transaction, and receives during a second tap of the mobile device on the proximity reader component, second transaction context data for the current transaction. When the mobile device determines that the second tap is for the same transaction as the first tap, and that one of a customer verification method (CVM) status or a user acknowledgment status flag has been set, then it transmits a payment card account number to the POS terminal to consummate the transaction.
Abstract:
A method includes a processor of a mobile telephone receiving a top-up request for an offline balance in an offline payment application of the mobile telephone, and opening an over-the-air (OTA) connection to a top-up authorization server computer. The user is prompted to enter a monetary amount for the offline balance and to enter a form of authentication. The method also includes receiving a monetary amount input and a user authentication input, authenticating the user, calculating a cryptogram and transmitting an OTA top-up request message to the top-up authorization server computer. In addition, the method includes receiving an OTA response indicating authorization of the top-up request and including a script. The processor then executes the script to increase the offline balance stored in the mobile telephone by the monetary amount.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, apparatus and computer program code are provided for operating a mobile device to conduct a transaction which include obtaining, by a mobile device operating a mobile payment application, a transaction payload from a merchant, extracting a payment gateway identifier from the transaction payload and establishing a secure communication channel with a payment gateway identified by the payment gateway identifier, receiving, from the payment gateway, item data associated with the transaction, the item data obtained by the payment gateway from the merchant, and receiving, from a user operating the mobile device, a confirmation to complete the transaction using a payment account associated with the user and transmitting the confirmation to the payment gateway with payment account credentials associated with the payment account.
Abstract:
Various implementation described herein are directed to a method for providing access control. User information is received at a device. A request to provide access control is generated by the device based on the received user information. The request is transmitted via a network to an access manager. A response to the request is received from the access manager. Access control via the device is provided based on the response to the request.
