The unit has a transfer belt, a plurality of rollers around which the transfer belt is laid with certain tension, wherein at least one of the rollers is a tension roller for tensioning to the transfer belt; frames supporting the plurality of rollers; tensioning mechanisms which are disposed on the side faces of the frames to bias the tension roller in a belt tensioning direction; a cleaning mechanism in contact with the transfer belt at a position opposing the tension roller; rotation preventing members which prevent the rotational torque form being transmitted to the cleaning mechanism; and position restricting members which restrict the relative position between the cleaning mechanism and the tension roller.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus including a latent image carrier and a developing device for charging a toner into a negative polarity by triboelectric charging, wherein the work function of the toner is set to be larger than the work function of the surface of the latent image carrier. When the apparatus includes an intermediate transfer medium, the work function of the toner is set to be larger than the work function of the surface of the intermediate transfer medium. In another embodiment, the work function &PHgr;opc of the surface of the latent image carrier, the work function &PHgr;t of the toner, and the work function &PHgr;TM of the surface of the intermediate transfer medium are set to satisfy a relationship &PHgr;t>&PHgr;OPC>&PHgr;TM. These relationships help to reduce fog, and improve transfer efficiency which reduces the consumption of the toner.

    摘要: A looped belt is stretched by a drive roller and a driven roller and circulated therearound. The driven roller is capable of functioning as a regulation roller for regulating meander action in the belt. Each of image formers forms a toner image associated with each single color constituting a color image. Transferring members are disposed on a circulating path of the belt member. Each transferring member is associated with each image former for transferring the toner image onto either the belt member or a recording medium held on the belt member. A cleaning blade is abutted against a part of the belt member wound on the drive roller for removing toner remained on the belt member after the toner image transfer is performed.

    摘要: In a color image forming apparatus, a looped belt member is stretched and circulated by at least a drive roller and a driven roller so as to have a tensed side and a slack side. Each of plural image supporting members supports a single color toner image thereon, and abuts onto the tensed side of the belt member to define a transferring position at which the toner image is transferred onto either the belt member or a recording medium held by the belt member, while being rotated. A circumferential velocity of each image supporting member is determined so as to be lower than a circulation velocity of the belt member. Further, a circumferential velocity of an image supporting member which is further from the driving roller may be lower than a circumferential velocity of an image supporting member which is closer to the driving roller.

    摘要: A color image forming apparatus includes a primary transport system for moving a photosensitive receiving member of continuous length, which is designed to receive the exposure of an original image to be reproduced forming a latent image of the original at an exposure station. The photosensitive receiving member is transported through the exposure station at a maintained constant rate of movement while assuring the transport of the photosensitive receiving member through downstream stations, involving development of the latent image and transfer of the developed image to an image receiving medium, is accomplished without causing slack, wrinkling or jamming of the photosensitive receiving member in the apparatus or distortion of the developed image during its transfer to an image receiving medium. The control of the transport of the photosensitive receiving member through the apparatus may be accomplished with a combination of a primary transport system and a secondary transport system respectively positioned in the region of the pressure transfer section and downstream of the exposure station to transport the photosensitive receiving member at different rates of movement. Conflict due to different transport rates applied to the photosensitive receiving member is eliminated by establishing a differential motion buffer in the transport path between the primary transport system and the secondary transport system. In this connection, the differential motion buffer provides for slack compensation or tension biasing in conjunction with any slack developed in the transport of the photosensitive receiving member through the apparatus.
