Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer program products for supporting multiple applications and multiple instances of the same application on a wireless smart device are disclosed. According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a system for supporting multiple instances of the same application. The system includes a wireless smart device for communicating with a wireless reader. The wireless smart device includes multiple instances of the same application for performing wireless transactions with an external device. The wireless smart device also includes an application manager for identifying one of the instances as active, for detecting a request from a wireless reader for performing a wireless transaction, and for communicating the request to the active instance.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a host, and a communications control module. The communications control module exchanges information with a communications network, such as a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) network. The host determines whether a termination condition exists. Based on this determination, the communications control module performs a signaling connection release indication procedure when a termination condition exists.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a reusable, universal polymer support for repetitive oligonucleotide synthesis and a method of synthesis thereof.

Abstract:
A new gene family involved in cell cycle regulation was discovered. This family has been termed activators of cyclin-dependent kinases (ACDKs). A number of ACDK genes have been cloned and sequenced. Proteins encoded by ACDK genes specifically were shown to interact with CDKs and pRb, and to upregulate the kinase activity of a CDK using pRb as a substrate. Progression of a cell through the cell cycle can be regulated by modulating ACDK expression in the cell.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved process for the synthesis of enantiomerically pure 3-phenyl-3-hydroxypropylamine of formula I; more particularly the present invention relates to the said process using styrene; the synthetic strategy features a Sharpless asymmetric dihydroxylation (SAD) route to the target compound, using styrene, a readily accessible starting material gives the optically pure dihydroxy compound (ee >97%; the selective monotosylation of primary alcohol, nucleophilic displacement by cyano and subsequent reduction to amino group furnishes the desired 3-phenyl-3-hydroxypropylamine in enatiomerically pure form, a key intermediate in the synthesis of variety of oxetine related anti-depressant drugs.
Abstract:
A system for sorting randomly positioned, irregularly shaped scrap metal particles on a moving conveyor employs laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), and includes an image detector for locating the particles as they path through a predefined viewing area, a position detector for detecting movement of the conveyor, a laser system for providing laser pulses, a scanner assembly for directing the pulses to selected locations within a target area, a light collector, a light distribution and spectral analyzer for isolating and measuring at least one selected band from the collected light, a separator, and suitable logic for identifying the particles, monitoring their position, monitoring the output of the laser and, operating the scanner assembly to direct the pulses to the identified particle. The spectral data is then analyzed, each particle is categorized, and thereafter sorted.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of organic compounds through C--C bond forming reaction which comprises reacting a diene with a dienophile in the presence of solid acid based on either yttrium, scandium or lanthanum supported on metal oxide supports such as oxides of zirconium or tin or titanium or iron oxide modified by sulphation as catalysts for a period ranging from 5 to 48 hours and recovering the reaction products from the reaction mixture by filtration and removal of the solvent by evaporation followed by column chromatography.
