Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) operating in discontinuous reception (DRX) mode receives a DRX configuration, receives a reference signal resource configuration, determines, at least based on the DRX configuration and the reference signal resource configuration, whether an overlap exists between a reference signal occasion of a plurality of reference signal occasions of the reference signal resource configuration and an active time of the DRX configuration, receives or transmits at least based on a determined overlap, at least a first reference signal in the reference signal occasion, and receives or transmits, while remaining in an active state of the DRX configuration, at least based on the determined overlap, at least a second reference signal in remaining reference signal occasions of the plurality of reference signal occasions after expiration of the active time.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for multi-level configuration and reporting for positioning in new radio (NR) wireless communications systems. In some wireless communications systems, a network entity may determine a position or location of a supported user equipment (UE) using radio access network information. The information may be associated with UE-assisted positioning techniques, such as a positioning reference signal (PRS) transmission by the base station and reporting of radio signaling measurements by the UE. The UE may support a multi-level configuration for reporting the radio signaling measurements, including determined report quantities on one or more of a resource level, a set level, or a setting level for the PRS transmission, or generally for the network entity. The described techniques may improve robustness associated with the reporting and, in some examples, reduce signaling overhead associated with determining a positioning and location of the UE.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives assistance data for enabling the UE to estimate a location of the UE, the assistance data including a relative location of each of a plurality of transmission points, wherein the relative location is represented as a hierarchy of two or more levels of description, wherein a highest level of description is relative to a fixed reference point, receives, from each of at least a subset of the plurality of transmission points, at least one positioning reference signal, and estimates the location of the UE based on characteristics of reception of the at least one positioning reference signal from each of the subset of the plurality of transmission points and the two or more levels of description and the fixed reference point for each of the subset of the plurality of transmission points.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives at least one of a first type of sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration or a second type of SRS configuration, wherein the first type of SRS configuration is based on a first set of available configurations for SRS received over a first higher layer protocol signaling of a component carrier, wherein the second type of SRS configuration is based on a second set of available configurations for SRS received over a second higher layer protocol signaling, and wherein the first higher layer protocol signaling is different from the second higher layer protocol signaling, and transmits one or more SRS-for-positioning purposes based on the first or second type of SRS configuration.

Abstract: Techniques for supporting positioning for a terminal (sometimes referred to herein as a target device) in a wireless network are described. In an aspect, positioning for a target device includes receiving a Request Location Information message, for a server, that includes a first information element and a second information element, wherein the first information element includes at least one field that is common to multiple positioning methods and wherein the at least one field comprises a quality-of-service (QoS), an indication of whether periodic location information is requested, an indication of whether triggered location information is requested, or any combination thereof, wherein the second information element includes at least one field that is specific to a first positioning method, and performing positioning in response to the Request Location Information message.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for beam group reporting for positioning in new radio (NR) wireless communications systems. In some wireless communications systems, multiple PRS resources, e.g., a beam group, received by a user equipment (UE) from the same network entity may be used to produce a combined Time of Arrival (TOA) measurement for the reference or target to derive an Reference Signal Time Difference (RSTD) estimate. The UE provides to a network entity an indication of the PRS resources in the beam group, which may be specifically or generally identified. Additionally, parameters associated with the beam group are provided, such as a relative quality of the TOA measurement for each PRS resource in the subset, a spread of the TOA measurements in the subset, a relative signal strength of each PRS resource in the subset, or a spread of the signal strength in the subset.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for transmit power control for positioning using non-serving cells are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that an uplink reference signal may be associated with a positioning procedure. In some cases, the positioning procedure may include transmission, by the UE, of the reference signal to a non-serving cell, which may be farther away from the UE than a serving cell. The UE may determine an absence of a parameter associated with a transmit power for transmitting the reference signal. Based on the absence, the UE may determine the transmit power based on parameters received from a serving cell, based on configuration information, based on a message intercepted from the non-serving cell, or based on other considerations or information. In some cases, the UE may determine the transmit power such that the likelihood of the non-serving cell receiving the reference signal is increased.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support aperiodic and cross component carrier PRSs. Generally, the described techniques provide for receiving a dynamic trigger indicating that a UE is to monitor for one or more downlink positioning reference signals (PRSs). The UE may generate a timing measurement for the one or more downlink PRSs, and may transmit a measurement report that indicates the timing measurement to a transmission/reception point. A UE may also transmit a capability indicator, indicating that the UE is capable of maintaining phase coherence for a PRS that spans multiple component carriers, receive control signaling that indicates multiple component carries on which the PRS is phase coherent, generate a timing measurement for the PRS based on the control signaling, and transmit a measurement report that indicates the timing measurement to the transmission/reception point.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may determine that a channel, such as a downlink channel or an uplink channel, and a positioning reference signal (PRS) occasion are scheduled for a common set of resources, such as a common frequency, a common time, and/or the like. This may result in the UE being unable to receive the PRS and/or process the PRS as a result of receiving the channel. In some aspects, the UE may determine that a PRS collides with a channel, and may perform a collision response action, such as dropping at least a portion of the channel, based at least in part on determining that the PRS occasion collides with the channel.
