One method of an embodiment decomposes a MIMO channel into a 2×2 system. QR decomposition and maximum likelihood detection may be performed on the 2×2 system. A beam selection method in open loop MU-MIMO is disclosed, for an asymmetric antenna configuration. The proposed beam selection method employs limited feedback, as compared with single-user closed-loop MIMO and multiple-user closed-loop MIMO, in which the base station requires channel state information (CSI). The multi-user MIMO beam selection method selects the portion of beams from candidate beams for data transmission, meaning that the base station is training M beams. From this, the subscriber station selects N beams from the total M beams, with N≦M.

A method providing channel quality indicator (CQI) feedback from subscriber stations (SSs) to a base station (BS) may include a combination of a thresholding scheme and a best-M scheme. Another method providing CQI feedback may include providing multiple feedback channels, with SSs randomly allocating CQI values among the multiple feedback channels. The BS may choose a prevailing CQI message when channel contention occurs. Another method of providing CQI feedback may include SSs transmitting to the BS numbers of their CQI values that exceed a CQI threshold. Based on these numbers, the BS may determine how many CQI values each SS may send, and on which channels. The SSs may send these CQI values according to instructions from the BS.

A unified open loop single-user/multiple-user multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system and method are disclosed. The system and method operate without use of channel state information feedback. Instead, the method utilizes channel quality indicator feedback to schedule users to spatial resource blocks. Both symmetric multi-user MIMO schemes (like 2×2 and 4×4) and asymmetric multi-user MIMO schemes are considered. CQI feedback and reduction proposals are also introduced. The method may be used in a proposed network topology.

According to the present invention, efficiency of a wireless communication system can be enhanced while delay can be reduced.

The present invention discloses an adaptive ICI self-cancellation method, which can adapt to the dynamical change of frequency offset and signal-noise power ratio (SNR), and a device thereof. The adaptive ICI self-cancellation method of the present invention comprises the steps of: estimating the maximum frequency offset and signal-noise power ratio (SNR) of signals, selecting a modulating state in accordance with an adaptive strategy, and determining a demodulating state based on the selected modulating state. An adaptive inter-carrier interference self-cancellation device using the method comprises: a transmitter including a digital demodulator, an inter-carrier interference self-cancellation modulator and an adaptive controller; and a receiver including a digital demodulator, an inter-carrier interference self-cancellation demodulator, a fast Fourier transformer, an estimator, a signaling demodulator and a demodulation controller. Through the present invention, the cancellation of inter-carrier interference is achieved, and at the same time the working state of the digital modulator and the ICI self-cancellation modulator satisfies the highest spectrum efficiency.
