A photoreceptor and method eliminate interference-fringe print defect due to interference effects caused by reflected beams from various interfaces in a multilayered photoreceptor. The substrate surface is formed with specific dimensions so as to enable the coating of the substrate with an undercoat film including, for example, an organometallic compound or an organometallic chelate compound such as any suitable hydrolyzable organozirconium, organotitanium or organoaluminum compound with a silane. Elimination of the "pepper spot" print defect is accomplished without the addition of a thickening agent to the undercoat film.

The resulting flexible belt assembly fabricated by this process may be utilized in various systems including electrostatographic imaging systems.

The flexible electrostatographic imaging belt may be fabricated by providing a sheet having two parallel sides and two opposite ends having matching bent profiles, the sheet having a first major exterior surface opposite and parallel to a second major exterior surface, overlapping an edge of the first major exterior surface adjacent one of the ends onto an edge of the second major exterior surface adjacent the other one of the ends to form a overlapped joint in which the bent profiles of the opposite ends match, and permanently securing the ends to each other to form a seam having a bent shape. This seamed flexible electrostatographic imaging belt may be used in an electrostatographic imaging process.

A charge transport layer material for a photoreceptor includes at least a polycarbonate polymer binder having a number average molecular weight of not less than 35,000, at least one charge transport material, polytetrafluoroethylene particle aggregates having an average size of less than about 1.5 microns and a fluorine-containing polymeric surfactant dispersed in a solvent mixture of at least tetrahydrofuran and toluene. The dispersion is able to form a uniform and stable material ideal for use in forming a charge transport layer of a photoreceptor. The resultant charge transport layer exhibits excellent wear resistance against contact with an AC bias charging roll, excellent electrical performance, and delivers superior print quality.

Present embodiments pertain to an improved electrostatographic imaging member having low contact friction surfaces to ease sliding mechanical interaction and suppressing abrasion/wear failure and methods of preparing thereof. The improved imaging member has layers comprising one or two low surface energy polymeric materials that enhance the physical and mechanical functions and reduce the layers surface contact friction of the imaging member to extend service life.
