摘要: An improvement in fuel flow through orifices of a thin disc orifice member is obtained by incorporating a radially inwardly open undercut in the seat member below the frustoconical seating surface and above the thin disc orifice member. The undercut provides a space that allows a fuel recirculation zone to be displaced further radially outwardly so that it poses less of an obstruction to flow toward the orifice.

摘要: In a high pressure fuel injector 10, 56 for direct injection of fuel into an internal combustion engine, the armature 28, 54 has a hub member 70 connected by means of spokes 40, 82 to a concentric ring member 42. This construction reduces the amount of magnetic material in the armature hence reduces magnetic losses and speeds up the actuation times. Spaces between the spokes allow for the passage of fluid from one side of the armature to the other during actuation.

摘要: An armature moves in a first and a second direction for causing a needle valve to contact and separate from a valve seat. A stop is situated to provide a motion stop in at least the first direction. Damping is provided for damping the motion of the armature by dissipating energy from a collision of the armature with the stop. The energy dissipation is accomplished by using a spring or washer to hold the needle valve against the valve seat to prevent unwanted fuel seepage to an engine.

摘要: Because of inherent delay in magnetic flux propagation in the magnetic circuit, the transient opening magnetic force on the armature does not build as rapidly as the injector driver circuit may be capable of commanding. This transient force is augmented without increasing the package size of the magnetic circuit. A fuel injector has a novel solenoid actuator magnetic circuit that has slots, convolutions, or the like dispersed in the surface of the magnetic circuit to provide increased surface area on the magnetic circuit in the direction of the lines of flux generated when the solenoid is energized along a path to the magnetic gap without increasing the overall size of the magnetic circuit. This increased surface area for the skin provides increased flux paths in the magnetic gap during the transient build-up of magnetic force across the gap, thereby improving the response of the armature upon opening. The slots/convolutions themselves and, especially, a novel arrangement of the slots/convolutions provide a resistivity increasing means for increasing the resistivity of the magnetic circuit by increasing the path length of the eddy currents that flow normal to the lines of flux in the magnetic circuit.

摘要: A rack and pinion reaction force sensor 10 as may be used in electric power assist steering systems, uses sensing element means 34 mounted adjacent to a bearing 18 in a sensor housing 22 to sense the linear reaction on the pinion shaft 16 to the force applied to the rack 12. The sensing element means 34 determines the magnitude and direction of turning of the steering system of a motor vehicle. The output of the sensing element means 34 is amplified and supplied as an input to the control electronics in the overall power assist steering system. A zirconia substrate forms a bearing support means 26 for the bearing 18 and is trimmed to provide a predetermined spring rate which responds to reaction force from the pinion shaft 16.
