    摘要: An exhaust aftertreatment system for use with an over-the-road vehicle is disclosed. The exhaust aftertreatment system includes a flash-boil doser mounted to an exhaust conduit and a catalyst coupled to the exhaust conduit. The flash-boil doser configured to inject heated and pressurized reducing agent into an exhaust passageway defined by the exhaust conduit for distribution throughout exhaust gases passed through the exhaust conduit. The catalyst configured to react the reducing agent with the nitrous oxide in the flow of exhaust gases to provide treated exhaust gases with a reduced nitrous oxide amount.

The flow control actuator includes at least one external fuel injector disposed adjacent to the side wall. The fuel from the fuel injector and oxidizer from the oxidizer inlet ignite in the interior of the flow control actuator.

    摘要: A vehicle comprising: an internal combustion engine configured to generate an engine torque using high-gasoline content fuel; at least one fuel injector configured to deliver the high-gasoline content fuel to a cylinder of the engine; at least one heating element configured to heat the high-gasoline content fuel prior to it being delivered to the cylinder by the fuel injector; a fuel pump connected to the heating element to supply high-gasoline to the heating element, the fuel pump being configured to pressurise the high-gasoline content fuel; and an engine controller configured to control the engine torque generated by the engine and control the fuel pressure generated by the fuel pump, the engine controller using a heated-fuel behaviour model of the engine, when the fuel is being heated by the heating element(s), to: (i) control an amount of fuel delivered by the fuel injector, the heated-fuel behaviour model causing a reduced fuel injection amount for a given engine torque relative to unheated high-gasoline content fuel; and (ii) cause a higher fuel pressure to be generated by the fuel pump relative to unheated high-gasoline content fuel.

    摘要: A fuel injector has a seat and at least one seat passage. The seat includes an outer tip surface through which the seat passage extends. Fin structure is provided in the outer tip surface and is constructed and arranged to increase a surface area of the outer tip surface as compared to a surface area of the outer tip surface absent the fin structure. The outer tip surface, including the fin structure, is constructed and arranged to be heated by combustion gases so that the outer tip surface reaches a temperature greater than a temperature that the outer tip surface would reach absent the fin structure, so as to cause evaporation of fuel that contacts the outer tip surface.

The fuel injector includes a fuel injector body having a first end, a second end and an outer surface, the fuel injector body comprising a valve assembly positioned within the fuel injector body and adjacent the first end, and a solenoid for actuating the valve assembly, the solenoid positioned within the fuel injector body between the first end and the second end; at least one capillary flow passage positioned along the outer surface of the fuel injector body, the at least one capillary flow passage having an inlet end and an outlet end; and a heat source arranged along the at least one capillary flow passage, the heat source operable to heat the fuel within the at least one capillary flow passage to a level sufficient to permit at least a portion of the fuel to transition from a liquid state to a vapor state downstream of the fuel injector; wherein the valve assembly comprises a valve and a valve seat, the outlet end of the at least one capillary flow passage positioned adjacent to and upstream of the valve seat to minimize heat transfer from the heated fuel to the fuel injector. A fuel system having multi-fuel capability for delivering vaporized or aerosolized fuel mixtures to a spark ignited internal combustion engine and a method of operating a spark-ignited engine on middle-distillate fuel are also provided.

The heat transfer system may be configured to absorb and transfer heat from a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. The heat transfer system may also be configured to reintroduce absorbed and/or transferred heat into the internal combustion engine via a fuel injector or another suitable device. Removal of the heat from the combustion chamber may reduce a quantity of work required or used for compression of a first combustion fluid, increase a charge density in the combustion chamber, and/or increase the compression ratio of the engine. Additionally, the heat transfer system may be designed such that it may be used to retrofit an existing internal combustion engine.

    摘要: In a method for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, the fuel is fed by at least one prefeed pump from a tank to at least one high-pressure pump and the high-pressure fuel fed by the high-pressure pump is supplied to the injector, wherein the injector has an injection nozzle with an axially movable nozzle needle protruding into a control chamber which can be fed with fuel under pressure and whose pressure is controlled by a control valve which opens or closes at least one inflow or outflow duct for fuel. Between the prefeed pump and the high-pressure pump, a partial volume of the fuel is branched off as a flushing volume and supplied to a flushing channel of the injector, wherein the flushing volume is directly supplied to the control valve such that the flushing volume flows at least partially through the control valve and preferably mixes with the fuel from the inflow or outflow duct, respectively.
