    Abstract: A display device includes a light source array including a plurality of light sources where at least one of the plurality of light sources is selectively driven, a spatial light modulator for modulating light from the light source array to form image light, a focusing optical system for focusing the image light formed by the spatial light modulator at a position in a predetermined eye box, a micro mirror array arranged in an optical path formed in the focusing optical system and including a plurality of mirror cells. The plurality of mirror cells are controlled to be in an ON state in that light is reflected in a direction toward an inside of the eye box or to be in an OFF state in that light is reflected in a direction toward an outside of the eye box.

    Abstract: An anamorphic optical system and a display apparatus including the same are disclosed. The anamorphic optical system includes an illumination system having astigmatism, and first and second correction lenses that are provided to have tangential power and sagittal power respectively and correct the astigmatism in the illumination system. The first and second correction lenses are provided in which a difference between a distance from the first correction lens to a tangential image formed by the first correction lens and a distance from the second correction lens to a sagittal image formed by the second correction lens corresponds to a distance between the first correction lens and the second correction lenses, and at least one of the first correction lens and the second correction lens has an asymmetric stop to form the tangential image and the sagittal image on the same surface.

    Abstract: A beam expander and a displays including the beam expander are provided. The beam expander includes a holographic optical element (HOE) configured to generate collimated light by diffracting incident light incident thereon from a light source that emits coherent light. The beam expander also includes a diffraction optical element that diffracts light received from the HOE. The light source and the HOE may face each other with the diffraction optical element therebetween. Both the light source and the HOE may be arranged on a side of the diffraction optical element. The light source may be arranged above or below the diffraction optical element.

    Abstract: Provided are an optical sensing system and an optical apparatus including the same. The optical sensing system may include a light output part configured to emit a laser beam to an object, and a sensing part configured to sense a laser beam emitted from the light output part and reflected from the object. The sensing part may include a photodetector and the active optical device located on an optical path between the photodetector and the object. The active optical device may actively control an orientation of a laser beam passing therethrough and may include a material layer having a refractive index which is changeable by application of an electrical signal.
