The apparatus includes a printer; a storage to store screen data on a screen in which a plurality of objects are provided and on which settings regarding a process for printing an image onto paper with the printer are made; an obtaining portion to obtain image data on a target image to be outputted; a display device to display, if a medium to which the target image is outputted is electronic paper, the screen based on the screen data in a manner to hide or not to place an unrelated object which is included in the objects and is not related to the electronic paper; and an output portion to output the image data to the electronic paper based on conditions designated on the screen displayed in such a manner that the unrelated object is hidden or not placed.

摘要： An image forming device includes a scanner for scanning a document image, and a controller for controlling the image forming device. The controller determines whether or not a loss detection image for determining presence or absence of data loss has been superimposed on a first document image scanned by the scanner, and when it is determined that the loss detection image has been superimposed on the first document image, extracts the loss detection image from the first document image and determines presence or absence of data loss in the extracted loss detection image, and notifies a user of presence or absence of data loss based on a result of the determination of presence or absence of data loss in the extracted loss detection image.

摘要： An image of a document is divided into a plurality of areas, and a reliability is obtained for each area for a case where an image of the area is used in orientation detection. The reliability is obtained from characteristics of the shape of a histogram generated from image data of the area, as follows. The histogram is divided into a plurality of sections, and an MTF value is calculated for each section by dividing a difference of the max and min values of the section by the sum of the max and min values. A mean value of the MTF values calculated for all of the sections of the histogram is set as the reliability of the area. The orientation detection processing is performed on the area whose reliability is the highest, and an orientation result obtained through the orientation detection processing is judged as the orientation of the image of the document.

摘要： An image processing apparatus is provided with a binarization processing unit separately from a pseudo gradation processing unit that binarizes image data of a document image according to an error diffusion method. The binarization processing unit binarizes the image data of the document image using a threshold that is set higher than a threshold used by the pseudo gradation processing unit, with each threshold representing a different predetermined density level. Histograms showing the density distribution of the document image are generated from the image data binarized by the binarization processing unit. The orientation of the document image is recognized by the histograms.
