摘要: A weight switching mechanism for a substitution type analytical balance is provided which permits the automatic selection and lifting of the required substitution weights from the gimbal assembly of a balance beam to allow accurate weighing of an unknown mass. A capacitive/electromagnetic feedback device is provided for sensing changes in the relative balance of the beam with respect to the applied unknown mass. The resultant current is applied to a force coil which maintains the beam in null position. A current related signal is converted to a digital input signal which is applied to a memory and control circuit and electronically displayed. A series of electromagnets, mounted below a printed circuit board and positioned to correspond with each substitution weight, is provided. The printed circuit board is arranged to lift upon release of the balance beam. The release of the beam causes the control circuit to selectively energize those magnets whose corresponding weights approximate the total weight of the unknown mass. The raising of the printed circuit board removes the selected weights from the gimbal assembly allowing a precise measurement of the remaining unbalance.

摘要: This invention relates to an electric impact tool characterized by a pair of electric motor-driven counterrotating flywheels, at least one of which is movable relative to the other from a retracted inoperative position into an extended operative one closely adjacent the other flywheel whereby a ram is squeezed therebetween and impelled forward at high speed against a workpiece. The nosepiece of the tool frame is retractable although normally extended due to the spring bias urging it and the movable flywheel to which it is mechanically linked into disengaged position. These elements cooperate with one another and with a manually-actuated trigger such that the latter must be depressed and the nosepiece retracted in order to engage the high energy friction clutch defined by the flywheels so as to operate the ram. A flywheel speed control is provided for matching the ram impact to the workload. The nosepiece also includes an energy absorbing cushion effective to dissipate the excess energy carried by the ram at the end of its work stroke so as to prevent damage to the structure against which the nosepiece is pressed.

摘要: A wind turbine is disclosed. The wind turbine includes a shaft rotatable about an axis, a plurality of hubs fixedly attached to the shaft, and a plurality of vanes. The vanes are releasably engaged with each of the plurality of hubs. The vanes disengage from the hubs once the shaft rotates about the axis at a cut-out speed of the wind turbine. In another embodiment, the vanes are releasably engaged with the shaft.

摘要: An object tracking system includes a sensor grid having a plurality of sensor clusters configured to sense the presence of a magnetic field of an object. Each sensor cluster includes three or more single-axis magnetic sensors. The sensors in a cluster may be arranged with their axes parallel to one another. The sensor grid may account for ambient magnetic noise by measuring the magnetic field in a zone a distance away from the object to update the ambient magnetic field noise measurement. The sensor grid or a portion thereof may include a plurality of sensors printed on a common sheet. The sensor grid may comprise one or more sheets overlapped or interconnected. The system may track an object and determine up to three degrees of positioning and three degrees of orientation by using a geometric solution of the intercepts of magnetic field strengths obtained from information collected by the magnetic sensors.

摘要: A quarter wave coaxial cavity resonator for producing corona discharge plasma from is presented. The quarter wave coaxial cavity resonator has a folded cavity made of opposing concentric cavity members that are nested together to form a continuous cavity ending in a aperture. A center conductor with a tip is positioned in the cavity. The folded cavity advantageously permits the coaxial cavity resonator to resonate at a lower operating frequency than an unfolded quarter wave coaxial cavity resonator of the same length. Embodiments of the quarter wave coaxial cavity resonator use narrower apertures to reduce radiative losses, and include center conductors that are reactive load elements, such as helical coils. When a radio frequency (RF) oscillation is produced in the quarter wave coaxial cavity resonator, corona discharge plasma is formed at the tip of the center conductor. The corona discharge plasma can be used to ignite combustible materials in combustion chambers of combustion engines.

摘要: In one embodiment, a processor can operate in multiple modes, including a direct execution mode and an emulation execution mode. More specifically, the processor may operate in a partial emulation model in which source instruction set architecture (ISA) instructions are directly handled in the direct execution mode and translated code generated by an emulation engine is handled in the emulation execution mode. Embodiments may also provide for efficient transitions between the modes using information that can be stored in one or more storages of the processor and elsewhere in a system. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

摘要: A hydraulic circuit for a vehicle having at least one selectively actuated hydraulic assist motor. The hydraulic circuit includes a first loop that includes, in serial order, a first hydraulic pump, a first hydraulic line, at least one hydraulic motor and a second hydraulic line. A second hydraulic pump and a third valve is used to control the flow of low pressure fluid from the second pump to the hydraulic motor casing. The low pressure fluid through the third valve maintains the motor pistons retracted when the motor is not being used. For actuating the motor, the third valve is actuated for disconnecting the second pump and relieving pressure from the motor casing. Low pressure is then provided to the first and second lines for extending the motor pistons. The first and second valves are then actuated for isolating the first and second lines from one another, and the first pump is used to power the motor. The first, second and third valves are advantageously solenoid cartridge valves.

摘要: A chimney assembly is provided for an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker including a housing and a number of poles. The chimney assembly includes a frame, an intake, a duct and an exhaust. A first side of the frame is coupled to the circuit breaker housing proximate the poles of the circuit breaker, and the intake and exhaust are respectively disposed at first and second ends of the frame. A first portion of the duct is coupled to the circuit breaker housing above the poles, and a second portion is coupled to the first side of the frame. The chimney assembly draws a volume of air through the intake into the circuit breaker housing, circulates the volume of air through the poles of the circuit breaker, and discharges the volume of air out of the circuit breaker housing through the duct and the exhaust.
