    摘要: An apparatus for optical navigation. The apparatus has a surface comprising an aperture, wherein the surface is configured to be moveable against an illuminated surface having a detectable texture. An optical motion detection circuit is integral to the apparatus and optically coupled to the detectable texture of the display screen. The optical motion detection circuit produces motion signals indicative of motion of the surface relative to the detectable texture of the illuminated surface, wherein the optical motion detection circuit is operable to detect the detectable texture without requiring an integral illumination source.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for integrating an optical navigation mechanism with non-optical sensor are described. At least one optical sensor is provided that detects light and converts the detected light into a corresponding electric signal. An optical navigation mechanism that employs the output of the optical sensor to provide user-controllable cursor navigation is also included. The optical navigation mechanism has a power saving state and an operation state. A non-optical sensor is provided that detects the presence or absence of an object in the vicinity of the non-optical sensor and selectively generates a present signal. A power saving mechanism is coupled to the non-optical sensor and receives the present signal and responsive thereto causes the optical navigation mechanism to transition from the power saving state to the operation state or from the operation state to a power saving state.

    摘要: An optical pointing device includes a light source configured to respond to a drive current to provide at least partially coherent light to illuminate an imaging surface to thereby generate reflected images. A navigation sensor is configured to generate digital images based on the reflected images, and generate movement data based on the digital images that is indicative of relative motion between the imaging surface and the optical pointing device. A light source driver is configured to provide the drive current to the light source. A drive current controller is configured to calibrate the drive current based on selected digital images.

    摘要: An input device includes a movable pad within a frame, a first linear array of optical sensors located opposite the movable pad, and a second linear array of optical sensors located opposite the movable pad. The first and the second linear arrays are arranged along different axes and generate signals in response to light from a surface on the movable pad. The input device further includes a processor coupled to the arrays to receive the signals. The processor determines a motion of the movable pad from the signals. The processor may translate the motion of the movable pad into a motion of a cursor on a display.

    摘要: An integrated-optic attenuator/equalizer device comprising a photorefractive substrate, at least one optical waveguide channel formed in the substrate, at least one diffractive-Bragg grating formed in the substrate, and a diffractive-Bragg grating modulator that is capable of modulating the diffractive Bragg grating(s). The diffractive-Bragg grating(s) intersects the optical waveguide channel. When a diffractive-Bragg grating formed in the substrate is modulated, at least a fraction of light of a wavelength associated with the modulated diffractive-Bragg grating is re-directed by the modulated diffractive-Bragg grating, thereby preventing the re-directed fraction of light from arriving at the output of the optical waveguide channel. Multiple diffractive-Bragg gratings may be implemented in the integrated-optic device, each having a particular wavelength associated therewith, and the diffractive-Bragg gratings may be simultaneously or independently modulated to control the fractions of light of different wavelengths that arrive at the output of the optical waveguide channel.
