    摘要: A surgical viewing system including an X-ray source, a screw placing surgical tool, a detector, a fiducial marker, and an image correction system. The X-ray source creates a beam of radiation, and the surgical tool is coupled thereto. The X-ray detector detects an image, the detected image resulting from receiving a portion of the radiation. There is at least one fiducial marker coupled to a part of the surgical tool, the fiducial marker being radiopaque and blocking a portion of the beam of radiation from the detector to produce a profile on the detected image. The surgical tool has an axis of rotation and the fiducial marker is axially symmetric to the axis of rotation. The image correction system takes the detected image and produces a corrected image by using a shape of the profile of the fiducial marker and/or a location of the profile of the fiducial marker.

    摘要: Methods and devices are provided for retracting tissue. In one exemplary embodiment, a retractor is provided that includes a base, a plurality of blades extending from the base, and an actuator coupled to the base and operatively connected to the blades. The actuator can be configured to be actuated to move the blades relative to the base, thereby allowing the blades to retract tissue. The actuator can be self-locking so as to allow the blades to be freely movable within their entire range of motion relative to the base through actuation of the actuator without using another mechanism to lock the blades in a fixed position and to unlock the blades from the fixed position. The retractor can be formed from one or more radiolucent materials.

    摘要: An instrument for distracting and/or compressing adjacent vertebrae is described. The instrument includes a yoke, a first blade movably mounted to the yoke, a second blade mounted to the yoke and an adjustment system. The yoke, the first blade and the second blade form a working channel for the instrument. The adjustment system of the instrument is configured to adjust a spacing between the first blade and the second blade by selectively moving the first blade relative to the second blade to distract and/or compress adjacent vertebrae when the first blade and the second blade have been secured to the adjacent vertebrae. The instrument may include a depth stop system that limits an insertion depth of an associated tool inserted into the working channel of the instrument. The adjustable depth stop system includes a releasable catch for securing a stop element of the associated tool. A position of the releasable catch relative to the working channel is adjustable to vary the insertion depth of the associated tool.
