摘要: This invention is in the field of safety devices to lessen injuries arising from impact in vehicles, particularly automobiles. A bolster which may be employed to reduce impact severity to passengers from either frontal or side impacts is activated by impact sensing devices. The housing of the bolster has a lateral length L. Upon activation, the bolster is inflated with an activating fluid and extends the lateral length L of the bolster upon activation.

摘要: A head stabilizing system is provided. The head stabilizing system is intended to minimize loads on the head and the neck, some of which may be injurious or even fatal, by generating a reaction force that substantially opposes a force acting on the head and generated by rapid deceleration of a vehicle or a crash impact. The head stabilizing system includes a helmet, a connection structure, and at least one resisting member. The resisting member generates a reaction force that opposes the crash impact force, yielding a reduced net force on the head. This reaction force can be generated as a function of position, velocity or acceleration. The resisting member may include a tether, a dashpot, or a dashpot containing a controllable rheological fluid. The viscosity of the controllable rheological fluid can be automatically adjusted in response to changes in status of a vehicle or it's occupant.

摘要: Seat belts of a transport system are provided with anti-submarining seat-belt assemblies. A lap-belt portion of each assembly, restraining the lower part of the body of a belted passenger, is subdivided into two anti-submarining belt portions, which properly restrain the thighs when plug-in connecting at least one anti-submarining latch-plate to one of the anti-submarining buckle assemblies, all of which, equipped with energy absorbers, are arranged in a seat cushion. As a result, the energy-absorbing, anti-submarining seat-belt assembly substantially lowers great belt force in an accident, reduces the elongation of the seat belt and prevents submarining.A separately operated release button, when depressed, frees the passenger from the anti-submarining protection.Ease of use is ensured by one-click operation of a master release-button, which, when depressed, releases all latch-plates.Detachable anti-submarining latch plates, when not in use, are stored in a storage box. When needed they are attached to the lap-belt portion.

摘要: A passenger protection apparatus is mounted on a vehicle, and includes a detecting device for foreseeing and detecting a collision of the vehicle; a passenger protection device to be situated between a passenger and the vehicle for protecting the passenger upon the collision; a driving device for driving the passenger protection device reversibly in a direction approaching the passenger and a direction away from the passenger; and a control device for controlling the driving device according to the detecting device. The control device controls the driving device to move the passenger protection device prior to the collision from a first position to a second position closer to the passenger than the first position when the detecting device foresees the collision. The control device controls the driving device to move the passenger protection device from the second position to the first position when the collision is avoided.
