The operation efficiency is improved by enabling a gas rectifying member of an airbag device to be easily disposed in a folded airbag. An airbag in a folded state is accommodated around an inflator of an airbag device, and a gas rectifying member (12) for guiding gas is disposed between the airbag and the inflator surrounded by the airbag. The gas rectifying member (12) includes a retained portion (12A) retained, together with the airbag, around the inflator and a free-standing tubular gas-flow guide portion (12B) standing upright from the retained portion (12A), which are formed as a single part from a base fabric. The airbag is folded in a state in which the retained portion (12A) is retained inside the airbag. At this time, the gas-flow guide portion (12B) is less likely to be sandwiched between the airbag, because it is standing in the airbag.

An airbag assembly with a reduced-cost knee airbag cushion and internal tethers can be formed from a single rectangular panel of material so that there is very little material waste. A pleat can be formed in a rear face so that the combination of tethers and pleat help the cushion deploy with favorable characteristics and adopt an arced shape when inflated. The cushion can have apertures for inserting an inflator with mounting stems partially within the cushion so that the mounting stems can be used to couple the cushion to an airbag housing. The assembly can also have a bag strap formed from a single piece of fabric that can wrap around a rolled and/or folded cushion. The assembly can also have a stabilizer strap that can be coupled to the cushion and to the airbag housing so that during deployment, the cushion does not skew or twist.

The disclosed airbag module can be used in the storage, handling, and installation of airbags to a motor vehicle. One embodiment of the airbag module can comprise: an airbag for protecting a vehicle occupant; and an anti-twist assembly attached to the airbag for preventing the airbag from twisting and for preventing the airbag from being stretched during installation.

An airbag for protecting an occupant includes a panel forming the airbag and having an occupant counter surface with a head counter portion to face a head of the occupant when the airbag is inflated. A recess portion is formed in the head counter portion when the airbag is inflated. The airbag also includes a regulation member for regulating inflation of the head counter portion toward the occupant. The regulation member forms the recess portion by regulating inflation of the head counter portion toward the occupant upon inflation of the airbag. The regulation member is configured to release regulation after a predetermined time from a moment when the airbag starts inflation.

In an airbag provided in a folded condition, a front end of the airbag includes a pulled-out section provided by pulling out the end of the airbag. In the airbag in a stored condition, an oblique path from a front end of the airbag to a fixed point of a front pillar can be reached by the pulled-out section. In the developed condition of the airbag, the pulled-out section can further draw the position of the front end of the airbag to the front side, thereby providing an increased protection range by the airbag.

An airbag device is provided in which the airbag is made by folding an airbag having a left airbag section and a right airbag section and wrapping the folded airbag by a shape-retaining sheet. In one form, an airbag includes a left airbag section and a right airbag section that are inflated on the left and right, respectively, in front of a passenger, and a base chamber that communicates base ends of the airbag sections with each other. The airbag is folded so as to have reduced vertical and longitudinal widths, and is wrapped by a shape-retaining sheet. An opening is provided in the shape-retaining sheet so as to face a lateral face of a folded body of the airbag on the passenger side.

An apparatus for an airbag arrangement including a frame part and an airbag package. The frame part may be a part of a base body of a motor vehicle seat. The airbag package is fastened to the frame part. The airbag package includes a folded-up airbag that may be inflated with gas. The airbag package further includes at least one clamping element that is configured to press the airbag package against the frame part. The clamping element includes a first and a second end region via which the clamping element is secured to the frame part. The two end regions are connected to one another via a pretensionable bearing region of the clamping element. The clamping element includes an intermediate layer extending between the airbag package and the frame part, that together with the bearing region encompasses the airbag package in cross section by 360°.

An airbag assembly for protecting a vehicle occupant includes an airbag and a deployment control device provided adjacent at least a portion of the airbag. The device includes a tear seam and is configured to restrain deployment of the airbag toward the occupant thereby causing the airbag to inflate laterally with respect to the occupant until the tear seam is torn by the force of the inflating airbag.

An airbag system in a motor vehicle including one or more inflatable airbags and at least one airbag fold bracket configured to indicate the location of at least one airbag fold of the inflatable airbag. The airbag fold bracket may also be configured to maintain the position and shape of the airbag fold of the inflatable airbag while in the undeployed state. Furthermore, the airbag fold bracket may be configured to adjust and tune the deployment of the inflatable airbag.
