摘要： A system in which an easily replaceable cartridge containing conveyor mechanisms such as wheels and belts, and a base for mounting the cartridge transports documents. The cartridge includes a carcass having a plurality of recesses in which respective wheels are disposed. When the cartridge is not mounted on the base, the wheels are retained within the recesses in contact with the carcass by belts which encircle the carcass. The base includes a plurality of bearing members of like member to the wheels. When the cartridge is mounted on the base, the wheels are engaged by the bearing members. The base is provided with a tensioning device which, when operated, tensions the belt and spaces the wheels away from the carcass, permitting them to rotate freely about their associated bearing members. At least one of the wheels is retained upon a hub assembly by a click-on, click-off mechanism requiring only single handed operation.

摘要： A hopper mechanism comprising a hopper front panel and a back shoe horizontally sideable with respect to a hopper base together forming a hopper into which a horizontal deck of document cards may be placed; a belt extending around a pick roll moveable through the front panel for picking an end card in the hopper and driving it downwardly through a throat gap disposed in the hopper base; a relatively large diameter roll supporting the belt and forming a nip with the belt into which the picked document card moves from the throat gap for reversing the direction of movement of the card from vertical to horizontal; a registration arm swingable by the card as it passes out from engagement with the large diameter roll and belt for sensing the position of the card; and a reversely rotating roll coacting with a roller carried by the registration arm for moving the card backwardly, after the card has cleared the registration arm, into contact with a card abutting registration edge of the arm for providing a registered position for the card.

摘要： A sheet separating device for mechanically feeding single sheets from a magazine having a stack of intermixed sheets of different thicknesses. The apparatus includes a conveyor assembly having an endless belt provided with integral feed pads for successively contacting and transporting sheets from the stack. A feed limiting barrier directs movement of the sheets toward a pair of discharge rollers which rotate in a direction for advancing the movement of the sheets. A separator roller mounted in confronting, overlapping relationship with the discharge rollers rotates in a direction opposing forward movement of the sheets to prevent passage of more than one sheet between the separator and discharge rollers. The conveyor assembly is spring-biased and swingably displaceable with respect to the separator roller for variable clearance in order to accommodate sheets of different thicknesses. Additionally, the discharge rollers are urged into contact with idler rollers to automatically compensate for wear. A sheet limit stop spaces the sheets with regard to the belt and feed pads in order to relieve intersheet pressure and to minimize the adhesion between adjacent sheets during engagement by the feed pads.

摘要： A first conveyor conveys a stack of sheets which stand on edge. A second conveyor is located at a level above the path in which the stack advances. A third conveyor extends substantially vertically across the path to pick up the respectively leading sheets of the stack and convey them in upward direction. A presser belt cooperates with the third conveyor to engage the pick-up sheets and convey to the second conveyor on which they are deposited so that each sheet partially overlaps a preceding sheet.

摘要： A mail hazard screening machine is configured to compress mail pieces or envelops through compression rollers and draw out this air and any hazard that may have been contained in the envelope. The system may be able to detect a wide range of hazards such as chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, explosive and drugs, abbreviated CBRNE+D. The sample air, the air drawn out from the hazard screening system, may be directed to one or more analysis devices and the mail processing machine may be stopped if any hazard is detected. The mail piece containing the hazard can then be found and further inspected safely.
A mail feeder system may be configured to deliver mail pieces to the hazard screening system without compression of the mail pieces or envelopes-

The transport module has an entrance region upstream of the printhead, a magazine for the strip-like media located upstream of the entrance region of the transport module, the transport belt also serves as a take-off device to remove the strip-like media from the magazine, the magazine is mounted laterally offset with respect to the transport belt, thereby causing the strip-like media to be captured by the transport belt only in an edge region of the transport belt. The transport belt is wider by the edge region than is precisely needed to transport the strip-like media, in order to print on a remaining region of the strip-like media, which is smaller by the edge region than a total width of said strip-like media.
