摘要： A medium feeder includes a medium mounter, a pair of edge guides, and a sheet number limiter. The medium mounter has a mounting surface on which a medium to be fed is placed. The pair of edge guides is provided at the medium mounter to guide side edges of the medium in a direction that intersects with a feeding direction in which the medium is fed. The sheet number limiter is provided at the pair of edge guides to limit the number of media mountable on the medium mounter. The sheet number limiter has an extension that extends in a feeding direction of the medium such that a distance between the extension and the mounting surface increases downstream.

摘要： A sheet stacking unit of the disclosure includes a sheet stacking plate, a cursor, and a detection sensor. The cursor includes an alignment part for performing widthwise alignment of a document, and a rack extending along the widthwise direction. The detection sensor is placed opposite the rack, and has a light-emitting portion and a light-receiving portion. A plurality of detection-object parts placed in the rack along the widthwise direction have optical characteristics of different reflectivities or transmissivities from one another with respect to light emitted from the light-emitting portion. The controller detects a widthwise size of the document on a basis of output values from the detection sensor which detects light reflected or transmitted by the detection-object parts.

The first edge guide includes a first protrusion configured to contact the first rail along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, a second protrusion configured to contact the second rail, a locking part engageable with the teeth, and a handle to disengage the locking part from the teeth. The handle is arranged in a position between the first rail and the second rail with regard to the second direction.

摘要： A sheet width aligning device includes an elevator tray, a pair of guides, and a pinion. The pinion is rotatably supported by inserting a shaft portion into a shaft hole formed in the pinion. The shaft portion projects from the elevator tray. The sheet width aligning device is configured to move the pair of guides so as to increase or decrease the distance between the guides in operative association with the pair of racks meshed with the pinion. The sheet width aligning device includes a pressing mechanism. The pressing mechanism is provided on the back face side of the elevator tray and includes an abutment member that abuts against the pinion. The pressing mechanism separates the abutment member away from the pinion at the lower position, while abutting the abutment member against the pinion to press the pinion at the upper position.

摘要： A stacking device includes: a first stacking portion having a stacking surface on which a sheet is stacked; a widthwise direction regulating unit, provided movably relative to the first stacking portion in a widthwise direction of the sheet, for regulating a widthwise position of the sheet stacked on the stacking surface; a second stacking portion provided rotatably relative to the first stacking portion between a first position and a second position. The second stacking portion is overlaid on the first stacking portion at the first position and supports, at the second position, an upstream portion of the sheet with respect to a feeding direction of the sheet fed by a sheet feeding unit. The second stacking portion is provided with a cut-away portion to avoid interference with the widthwise direction regulating unit when rotates between the first position and the second position.

The restriction member has an arm portion, a restriction portion selectively located at a first position where the restriction portion is retracted in an inner side of the opposing surface and a second position where the restriction portion projects from the opening, and a pressed portion extending to face an under surface of the sheet stacking plate. The swing support shaft swingably supports the arm portion of the restriction member. The first biasing member biases the restriction member in a direction of the second position.
