摘要: The invention relates to a feeder device (1) for feeding mailpieces (2) to a postal sorting conveyor (3), the feeder device comprising an unstacker head (4) designed to put the mailpieces in series and on edge on the sorting conveyor, an unstacker plate (5) designed to unstack the mailpieces one-by-one towards the unstacker head, and a mailpiece feed conveyor (6) designed to convey the mailpieces in a stack and on edge against the unstacker plate. The unstacker plate comprises a stationary portion (5a) that extends from the unstacker head, and a moving portion (5b) that extends the stationary portion, said moving portion being mounted to pivot from the stationary portion between a first position in which the stationary portion and the moving portion are aligned with each other, and a second position in which the stationary portion and the moving portion are angularly offset relative to each other.

摘要: An image reading device includes a sheet tray, a conveying unit, a reading unit, a detecting unit, and a control unit. The conveying unit conveys the sheet along a conveying path in a conveying direction. The reading unit reads the sheet at a reading position in a main scanning direction orthogonal to the conveying direction. The control unit controls the reading unit to start reading the sheet when the detection unit detects that a leading edge of a sheet reaches a position upstream of the reading position by a first distance. The control unit controls the reading unit to stop reading the sheet when the detection unit detects that a trailing edge of the sheet reaches a position downstream of the reading position by a second distance. The first distance and the second distance are determined according to the size of the sheet.

摘要: A method is specified for sorting flat mail items, which allows sorting according to delivery order to be carried out swiftly and reliably. With the method a first sorting pass is carried out in a first segment with at least N storage modules of a sorting device and a second sorting pass is then carried out in a second segment with at least N storage modules of the sorting device. The overflow items, which are assigned to a storage module that has been closed because it is full, are deposited into one of the other storage modules in the first sorting pass and are included in the sorting process of the second sorting pass.

摘要: Described herein is a system and device for singulating mail pieces during mail processing and sorting. A double inhibit mechanism, mounted opposite a feed belt assembly and having at least two degrees of freedom at its downstream end, can maintain contact with mail in the mail path while separating overlapping mail pieces and allowing only single pieces to pass thereby.

摘要: An apparatus (570) for forming a window in which printed characters on an item such as an envelope can be read. The apparatus (570) comprises a base member (572) fastened to a planar horizontal surface (508) and positionable intermediate a reader device (50) and an on-edge envelope. The base member (572) has an elongated vertical slot provided (576) therein. A slide member (584) has a bottom edge which includes a dimpled portion. The dimpled portion of the slide member (584) fits into the elongated vertical slot (576) of the base member (572). The base member (572) carries a block (578) which accommodates a screw (582) for selectively adjusting the position of the bottom edge of the slide member (584) relative to the base member (572). A bottom edge of the slide member (584) and a portion of the elongated vertical slot (576) below the bottom edge of the slide member (584) form a read window through which characters are readable. The slide member (584) has indicia provided thereon and is resilient so that a top portion thereof acquires an angular orientation imposed by a top of the base member (572).

摘要: In an apparatus for forwarding flat items individually from a stack, a withdrawing mechanism forwards the items in succession into the gripping zone of a feed mechanism for further conveyance. Between the withdrawing mechanism and the feed mechanism there is situated a sensor which is connected to a control circuit controlling the operation of the withdrawing mechanism. The location of the sensor determines a standby position for each item. The control circuit causes operation of the withdrawing mechanism only when either the sensor senses no item present or the sensor senses the presence of an item and there is applied a call signal to the control circuit. Each item is first forwarded by the withdrawing mechanism from the stack to the standby position and is advanced by the withdrawing mechanism from the standby position into the gripping zone of the feed mechanism only when the call signal is applied to the control circuit.

摘要: A SYNCHRONOUS-TYPE APPARATUS FOR FEEDING LETTER MAIL OF VARIOUS SIZES AND THICKNESS. A FEED WHEEL AND A STRIPPER WHEEL ARE POSITIONED IN OPPOSED RELATION AT A FEED AREA IN THE APPARATUS TO RECEIVE THEREBETWEEN LETTERS WHICH ARE TO BE SINGULATED AND FED TO A PROCESSING UNIT. AN ELASTOMERIC MEMBER IS WRAPPED AROUND A SECTOR OF THE FEED WHEEL TO ENGAGE THE LETTERS ALONG A LINE PARALLEL TO THE LONG DIMENSION OF THE LETTERS. THE FEED WHEEL IS ROTATED AT VARYING ANGULAR VELOCITIES, SO THAT THE LEADING PORTION OF THE ELASTOMERIC MEMBER ENGAGES A LETTER TO BE FED AT A LOW VELOCITY, AND THE TRAILING PORTION OF THE ELASTOMERIC MEMBER DISCHARGES THE LETTER AT A HIGHER VELOCITY. THE LOW VELOCITY AT ENGAGEMENT REDUCES THE "SCRUBBING" ACTION ON THE LETTERS BEING FED AND REDUCES WEAR ON THE FEED AND STRIPPER WHEEELS.
