摘要: A guide for a chain, or similar endless, flexible, power transmission device, is composed of a molded guide body, and a reinforcing plate fitting into a slot in the guide body. A nearly circular, but slightly elongated, mounting hole in the guide body is elongated in the front-to-back direction of the guide. The elongated mounting hole overlaps a circular mounting hole in the reinforcing plate, and allows relative adjustment of the positions of the holes so that the guide can be more easily mounted on an inner wall of an engine by a bolt or pin which extends through both mounting holes.

摘要: In a movable guide for a transmission device, a slide rail extending in the direction of travel of a transmission chain, a pivotable rail support, and a plunger-contacting portion, are formed by sandwich molding a high-strength first polymer resin to form a core, and a second, wear-resistant polymer resin to form a skin layer entirely covering the core. The guide exhibits excellent mechanical strength and wear resistance, especially in its plunger-contacting portion, and is light in weight, inexpensive, and readily recycled.

摘要: A tensioner is formed with components having improved wear resistance. At least one component of the tensioner is covered with a diamond-like amorphous carbon coating (DLC). The coating is applied to the tensioner without causing hydrogen brittleness in metallic members. In addition, the coating may be formed on tensioner components formed with resin. In one embodiment of the invention, a metal element is dispersed into the diamond-like amorphous carbon coating.

摘要: A chain tensioner apparatus includes a mounting bracket adapted for connection to an associated engine block. The mounting bracket defines a pivot point and a support surface. A blade is connected to the bracket and includes: (i) first and second opposite end portions joined together by a central portion; (ii) a hub defined by the first end portion; and, (iii) a first end wall connecting the hub to the central portion. The hub of the blade is pivotably connected to the bracket at the pivot point and the second end of the blade abuts the support surface. The blade defines an exterior chain guide surface adapted for slidingly abutting an associated chain of an associated chain drive system. The chain tensioner apparatus further includes a tensioning spring connected to the blade, the spring having opposite first and second ends located respectively adjacent the first and second opposite end portions of the blade. The spring contacts and exerts a biasing force on the central portion of the blade. A rib projects outwardly away from the first end wall of the blade. The rib comprises a first end located adjacent the central portion of the blade and a second end located adjacent the hub. The blade and spring, without the mounting bracket, define a blade/spring sub-assembly.

摘要: A lever assembly includes a lever and a fastener for pivotally mounting the lever to a fixed support member. The lever is composed of a lever body made of a plastic and a reinforcement plate assembled with the plastic lever body. The lever body has a first groove formed in one surface of the lever body and extending from a central through-hole to a position in proximity of a mount hole formed at one end of the lever body, and a second groove formed in the opposite surface of the lever body and extending from the central through-hole to a position in proximity of the other end of the lever body. The reinforcement plate is fitted in the first and second grooves across the central through-hole of the lever body. The fastener comprised of a screw with flanged head has a portion lying over part of the reinforcement plate to prevent the reinforcement plate from displacing off the lever body.

摘要: A tensioner lever for an engine timing chain comprises a synthetic resin lever body including a shoe having a chain-contacting sliding surface, and a spring-receiving portion on the back of a shoe. A laminated sheet spring is fitted into a slot formed in the spring-receiving portion along the longitudinal direction of the lever. The synthetic resin lever body is pivoted on a pivot shaft mounted on an engine, and an end of the laminated sheet spring is locked into a groove in the pivot shaft so that the spring can be stressed and thereby exert a tensioning force on the chain through the tensioner lever. The tensioner lever produces stable and quiet operation of the chain, and is more compact and less expensive than a conventional tensioner.

摘要: In a movable guide for transmission device in which a guide body is formed from a synthetic resin and comprises a chain-contacting shoe and a plate-receiving portion formed as a unit with the shoe on the back side thereof, the plate-receiving portion has plural, longitudinally extending slots, each receiving a reinforcing plate. The plural reinforcing plates improve the bending rigidity, toughness, strength and wear properties of the guide, prevent falling down of the guide and guide torsion, ensure stable travel of the chain, and prevent running of the chain off the guide in a widthwise direction. Improved compactness of the guide and of the overall mechanism, is made possible by the use of plural plates. The plates can be connected to one another by a tensioner-contacting portion, formed as a unit with the plates.

摘要: The object of the present invention is to facilitate an appropriate oil supply to the tensioner without a complex apparatus. A valve chamber 3A is formed in a cylinder head 3 which is connected to a cylinder block 2. An opening 23—for discharging the oil in the valve chamber 3A into a chain case 6 which is placed on the side of the cylinder block 2—is formed on a chain case mounting surface 20. Inside the chain case 6 on the chain case mounting surface 20 of the cylinder block 2 are placed a timing chain 15 and a tensioner 30 for applying tension to the timing chain 15. An oil dropping rib 24 for guiding the oil discharged through the opening 23 to the tensioner 30 is provided on the chain case mounting surface 20.

摘要: A guide for a transmission device such as a chain or belt, is injection molded using a sandwich-molding process. The process avoids the need for a complex mold and complex manufacturing steps. The guide exhibits enhanced mechanical strength and excellent sliding contact properties and wear resistance in a compatible manner, and is also light in weight and has excellent durability. The sandwich-molded guide comprises a slide rail on which a chain or belt slides, and a rail supporting member integrally provided along with the slide rail. The slide rail is composed of a material the principal component of which is a first polymeric material having wear resistance and heat resistance, and the rail supporting member is composed of a material the principal component of which is a second polymeric material having higher strength than the material having the first polymeric material as its principal component. The slide rail and the rail supporting member are intimately joined to each other by injection molding using the sandwich molding process.
