    摘要: The current diverter rings (CDRs), captured CDRs, bearing isolators, and explosion-proof CDRs serve to dissipate an electrical charge from a rotating piece of equipment to ground, such as from a motor shaft to a motor housing. One embodiment of the explosion-proof CDR includes a stator that may be mounted to the equipment housing and a rotor that may be mounted to a shaft. The rotor may rotate with the shaft may be encompassed by stator and a cap, which cap may be secured directly to the stator or the housing. A conductive assembly may be positioned in a radial channel formed in the stator such that the conductive assembly contacts the shaft to conduct electricity from the shaft to the housing. Another embodiment of an explosion-proof CDR does not require a rotor. The explosion-proof CDR may be configured to define a flame path to achieve various explosion-proof certifications.

    摘要: An improved cartridge-type bearing seal includes removably connected stator and rotor sections. The stator section supports a distribution ring that divides an internal annular volume into radially outside and inside portions. The ring has a sufficient number of tangentially oriented ducts to permit fluid communication between the outside and inside portions. With this structure, when pressurized purge fluid is supplied to the outside portion, the fluid flows through the ducts, to induce a desired tangential fluid flow within the inside portion. This in turn causes circumferentially uniform fluid pressure in the annular volume that resides between the rotating shaft and the bearing housing, and the pressurized fluid traverses a flow path out of the bearing. This circumferentially uniform fluid pressure, by itself or in combination with a flexible lip, prevents contaminant ingress between the rotating shaft and the bearing housing. Because the structure that creates the tangential fluid flow is part of the removable cartridge, this bearing seal eliminates the need to machine or drill a tangentially oriented passage in the bearing housing. One embodiment adds a secondary ring adjacent the distribution ring, to reduce the need to precision machine the inside dimension of the bearing cap. These structural components render the circumferential purge fluid feature even more readily available, for a wider range of spindles.

    摘要: An isolator seal includes a stator member for placement into the stator of rotating equipment and a rotor member for placement onto a rotary shaft of the rotating equipment. The stator member and the rotor member provide respective adjacent surfaces, while a static shut-off device engages both adjacent surfaces when the rotor member is static and disengages one or more of the surfaces when the rotor member is dynamic. In one embodiment of the invention at least one of the surfaces is inclined to the longitudinal axis at an angle greater or less than 90°. In a further embodiment, the static shut-off device includes a resilient annular sealing member and an auxiliary member, which can move between a first position, when the rotor member is static, at which the auxiliary member compresses the resilient annular member into engagement with both surfaces, and a second position at which the compression on the resilient member is reduced, so that the resilient annular member disengages one or more of the rotor and stator surfaces when the rotor is dynamic.
