摘要： A pipe shaped wand connected to a vacuum pump has at least one port, each port being covered by an air filter and having one end of a quantizing tube attached thereto. When the distal end of the quantizing tube end is held in a bed of fertilizer, insecticide or seed particles, and a vacuum is created, and air is withdrawn from the bed of fertilizer through the quantizing tube to fill the quantizing tube with and to hold the particles until the quantizer-dispenser is moved over a plug tray and the vacuum released to dispense the held quantity of particles into the tray. For automatic operation, a reservoir of particles is connected via a hose to the interior of the quantizing tube and a conventional check valve is connected to the distal end of the quantizing tube so that without moving the quantizer-dispenser each of a series of plug trays may be sequentially moved under the check valve, at which time a vacuum is created to close the check valve. The vacuum fills the quantizing tube(s) and when the vacuum is released, the check valve opens to dispense the held particles. The conventional check valve may be replaced by a length of flexible tube in which case the quantizer-dispenser is moved to bend the flexible tube against a table top to close it before a vacuum is created, and is then moved over a pot where dispensing occurs when the vacuum is released.

摘要： A multi-compartment container (12) is charged with a plurality of doses of powdered medicament so that the volume of each dose is less than that of the respective compartments in which it is contained. A respective protuberance (for example 92) is inserted into each respective compartment, which is then filled with medicament (91) and the protuberance is then removed. The container may take the form of an apertured plate, in which case the filling step can be achieved by placing the container (12) on a porous bed (22) and in communication with a reservoir (80) of particulate material, and then passing gas through the reservoir, the apertures in the container (12) and the bed (22). There is also shown apparatus for performing the method, the apparatus comprising a reservoir (80) for the particulate material and conduit means (81, 92, 94) for relaying particulate material from the reservoir to the compartments, the conduit means including protuberances which are insertable into the compartments to reduce the available volume of the latter. The size of the doses can be controlled by appropriate selection of protuberance dimensions, and a plate-type container, when filled by the method, can be relatively easily sealed by, for example, the application of laminated foil.

The cap has a slider contained within a railing mounted on a main body and which dispenses material to a receiving compartment. The slider is manually operated and regulates the flow of material into the receiving compartment. Overflow is eliminated by locating the receiving cup within close proximity to the mounting via positioning means extending from the top of the cap.

The bin has a floor sloping downwardly and backwardly and defining an aperture in a back portion of the bin. The auger is disposed to underlie the aperture. The auger is made from a metal rod coiled to provide a vane. The auger has a relatively wide pitch except for a front portion having a relatively narrow pitch. A door mounted pivotably on the trough is pivotable between a position wherein the door closes an outlet for the trough and a position wherein the door is disposed away from the outlet. A spring biases the door to the outlet-closing position.
