Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section for forming an image on a recording material with transparent toner; a heater for heating a first image and a second image which are formed on the recording material by the image forming section as transparent images different in toner coverage per unit area; a glossiness detector for detecting glossiness of the first and second images after the first and second images are heated; and a correction section for correcting an image forming condition of the image forming section on the basis of a glossiness toner coverage characteristic obtained by a detection result of the detector.
Abstract:
A system and method for implementing identification tags for print projects is disclosed. The method includes programming variable unique identification tags in each image of a job and subset of the job and printing the job on a form of media with the identification tag where the identification tag contains information capable of linking the form of media to the job. The identification tag may be implemented to microprinting, visual encoding, or infrared watermarking. The identification tag enables re-feeding the job for an update without the job needing to be fed in any certain type of order. Furthermore, even if the wrong job is fed into a printer/finisher, the update will not be implemented unless it is specifically programmed into the printer/finisher.
Abstract:
A recording material has toner reception layers on both surfaces of a base. The toner reception layers have glass transition temperatures in the range of 40 to 80° C. One of the toner reception layers that is to be smoothed prior to the other toner reception layer has a higher glass transition temperature than the other toner reception layer. The toner reception layer having a lower glass transition temperature is smoothed at a higher speed than the other toner reception layer.

Abstract:
An image forming apparatus according to this invention which allows double-sided printing can reduce the toner consumption amount by decreasing the size of a developer image on the second page as compared with the size of a developer image printed on the first page in margin-less printing. To accomplish this, the image forming apparatus includes a setting unit adapted to set, when images are to be formed on both surfaces of a printing material without margin, a size of a developer image on a second page of the printing material smaller than a size of a developer image on a first page of the printing material.
Abstract:
Adjustment processing is suitably executed in accordance with the type of post processing. To accomplish this, an image forming apparatus includes, for example, an adjustment part, specifying part, and control part. The adjustment part performs at least one of adjustment operation for an image formation position and adjustment operation for an image formation density by forming adjustment patterns using a developing material on an image carrier and measuring the adjustment patterns. The specifying part specifies the size of an image to be formed on a sheet and the content of post processing in case of executing a job which requires post processing on the sheet. The control part controls, in accordance with the size of the image and the content of the post processing, whether to perform the adjustment operation by the adjustment part concurrently with the formation of an image made from a job requiring post processing.
Abstract:
A method of printing comprising the steps of marking the surface of a test preprinted media with a first marking material; placing the media adjacent to a transfer media; disposing the test media and the transfer media into the nip of a fuser roller assembly to thereby apply predetermined heat and pressure thereto; removing the test media and the transfer media from the nip of the fuser roller after a predetermined time; and, measuring the density of the first marking material which has been offset to the transfer media.
Abstract:
An image-forming unit 100 in a complex device A forms a correction-use image onto a sheet in accordance with data, in such a manner that the correction-use image thus formed partly on and partly off the sheet and includes edges of the sheet, the date being preliminarily determined in accordance with a size of the sheet. An image-detecting section 520 reads that portion of the correction-use image which is transferred on an image-transfer belt 7 as the correction-use image is formed by the image-forming unit 100. A correction value is calculated in accordance with data thus obtained by the image-detecting section 520. A control section then causes a data storing section to store the correction value. The control section reads out the correction value when forming an image in the complex device A, and forms the image, performing correction of the image, using the correction value for correcting an image-forming condition regarding how the image is formed on the sheet. The image-forming condition, such as a position and a copy-scale, can be adjusted, even if using an unadjusted reading apparatus.
Abstract:
A calculation unit for comparing specific paper attributes is stored in a nonvolatile memory with the detection results of cassettes. The unit checks whether the specific paper attributes coincide with the detection results, and calculates the weighted points for each matched item. A selection unit compares the calculated values, to select a paper feed cassette most suitable for the specific paper attributes. The results are arranged to numerically evaluate the paper feed cassettes, in this way preferentially selecting the suitable paper feed cassette. Operation keys for setting specific paper attributes are arranged to change specific paper attributes to be preferentially selected. Therefore, in a power-ON or a paper empty state, paper which is required by a user is preferentially selected from a plurality of paper feed means to decrease operations for selecting paper, thus improving operability.
