Systems, methods, and devices for providing interactive striking objects (e.g., drumsticks) and performing actions in response to striking motions of the striking objects are disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems and methods provide an interactive drumstick, which includes a lighting display located at a tip portion of the interactive drumstick, a motion detector contained at least partially within the drumstick, a processor and memory contained at least partially within the drumstick, and an interactive system stored within the memory of the drumstick. The interactive system includes a striking motion module that determines striking motions of the drumstick with respect to a virtual percussion instrument based on accessing information measured by the motion detector, and a display module that causes the lighting display to present a certain type of illumination based on the striking motions determined by the striking motion module.

An electronic percussion instrument includes a head, a frame, and an impact sensor. The back of the head is divided into a main area (e.g. a main strike area) and an auxiliary area. At least one connecting part is arranged above or below the main area in the back of the head and reduced in thickness compared to the auxiliary area, thus reducing vibration from being transmitted through the head. The impact sensor is attached to the back of the main strike area of the head via a cushion member. When the main strike area of the head is being struck with a beater, a vibration is caused to occur in the head and detected by the impact sensor to produce an electric signal which is used to generate an electronic musical sound while suppressing mechanical noise due to an impact between the beater and the head.

The present disclosure illustrates a sound insulation electronic pad for a bass drum of a jazz drum set. The electronic pad is assembled with a drum frame of the bass drum of the jazz drum set by a support structure, and located between a drumhead of the bass drum and a drum pedal. The electronic pad does not contact with the drumhead of the bass drum. When the electronic pad is knocked by the drumstick and the drumhead of the bass drum is not knocked by the drumstick, the electronic pad and an external trigger module simulate an electronic drum sound of the bass drum and output the electronic drum sound via an output device such as earphones or a loudspeaker. Therefore, the electronic pad of the present disclosure can be used to remodel the bass drum of the jazz drum set as an electronic drum.

At least a part of an outer area of the striking surface attachment 13 is fixed to the drumhead 12 and a central area of the striking surface attachment 13 is not fixed to the drumhead 12. Embodiments described comprise an art layer, a sensor layer, a shielding layer, an electronics package and a speaker. The art layer has depictions of one or more percussion instruments. The sensor layer is deposed under the art layer. The sensor layer has one or more instrument sensors, each comprising one or more capacitive touch sensors. Instrument sensors are positioned underneath one of the depicted percussion instruments in the art layer so that a finger tapping the depicted instrument will trigger the sensor. The capacitive touch sensors are electrically connected to the electronics package configured to detect changes in capacitance when a particular capacitive touch sensor is touched, causing the electronics package to play on the speaker a sound sample of an percussion instrument associated with that capacitive touch sensor.

The percussion instrument uses a belt member stretched between one of two upper stretching members and a lower stretching member, to form a striking surface. By using the elasticity of the belt member, the striking surface can simulate the tension sensation of a conventional acoustic percussion instrument. By forming the belt member in a band shape, the width dimensions of the striking surface can be small relative to conventional circular shaped striking surfaces.
