Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for providing interactive striking objects (e.g., drumsticks) and performing actions in response to striking motions of the striking objects are disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems and methods provide an interactive drumstick, which includes a lighting display located at a tip portion of the interactive drumstick, a motion detector contained at least partially within the drumstick, a processor and memory contained at least partially within the drumstick, and an interactive system stored within the memory of the drumstick. The interactive system includes a striking motion module that determines striking motions of the drumstick with respect to a virtual percussion instrument based on accessing information measured by the motion detector, and a display module that causes the lighting display to present a certain type of illumination based on the striking motions determined by the striking motion module.
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a number of embodiments related to devices, systems, and methods locating a an object using ultra-wide band (UWB) radio transceivers embedded in carpet or other flexible material that may be rolled up and moved to various locations. Once in a location, the carpet may be unrolled and the multiple embedded radio transceivers may receive a signal from a tag attached to the object sending UWB radio signals. Based on the signals received by the UWB radio transceivers, various processes including time-difference on arrival, time-of-flight, and phase shift may be used to determine the location or the movement of the object.
Abstract:
A sound pickup device includes: a housing; a mount portion via which the housing is mounted on an object; a sound pickup including a microphone; a first output configured to output a sound signal indicating a sound input to the sound pickup; an installer configured to install the sound pickup on the housing; a sensor configured to detect a vibration transmitted to the housing; and a second output configured to output a vibration signal indicating the vibration detected by the sensor.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed at systems, methods, and apparatus for implementing a rhythm-action game having an improvisational fill feature. The rhythm-action game can provide a musical track having at least one section that can be varied. The rhythm-action game can also provide a database having a plurality of fills, wherein each fill includes a soundtrack and a set of cues. During run-time, the rhythm-action game can select, for each section in the musical track that can be varied, a fill from the plurality of fills. In some embodiments, this selection can be based on various characterizing parameters to ensure that the fill is a good fit for the musical track. The rhythm-action game can also display a set of visual cues associated with the selected fill, and to evaluate whether received user input substantially corresponds to the displayed cues.
Abstract:
A musical instrument includes memory that stores layout information defining regions arranged on a predetermined virtual plane, and a position sensor that detects the position coordinates on the virtual plane of a music playing member that can be held by a player. First, it is determined whether the position coordinates of the music playing member belong to a region arranged on the virtual plane based on the layout information, at a timing at which a specific music playing operations is made. Herein, in a case of having determined as belonging to a region, the generation of sound of a musical note corresponding to this region is instructed, in a case of having determined as not belonging to a region, the layout information stored in the memory is modified in order to modify this region so as to include the position coordinates of the music playing member.

Abstract:
An inflatable electronic drum set includes an inflatable bladder, which when inflated, forms a three-dimensional outer configuration of a combination of a drum set and including multiple structural sections of drums and cymbals. The interior is filled up with air and each drum surface or cymbal surface is provided with a pressure detection film, so that through settings made with a control module, when a drummer hits, a corresponding drum sound or cymbal sound is generated. The inflated music instruments are set at positions corresponding to those of a traditional drum set. Due to high resiliency and flexibility, percussion can be made with perfect hand perception and no concern about collision and tumbling may be caused. Another advantage is that the sound volume can be adjusted. In addition, after air is completely discharged, the drum set can be stowed in a very limited space.

Abstract:
A percussion instrument includes at least one pad and a support frame supporting the pad. The support frame includes a central vertical frame, a left vertical frame located in a left rear direction of the central vertical frame when viewed from the player side, a right vertical frame located in a right rear direction of the central vertical frame when viewed from the player side, a left transverse frame extending between the central vertical frame and the left vertical frame and connecting the central vertical frame with the left vertical frame, and a right transverse frame extending between the central vertical frame and the right vertical frame and connecting the central vertical frame with the right vertical frame. The at least one pad is connected with the central vertical frame.
