摘要： An apparatus and method for circuit interruption, with auto-power on and fault memory. The interrupter includes first and second locks in series with one another, and in series between the circuit driving source and load. The first lock is in communication with the circuit driving source. Control circuitry may be disposed between the circuit driving source and the first lock. When either lock is open the circuit is open; with both locks closed the circuit is closed. Actuating one lock does not change the state of the other lock. While closing input such as a power signal is applied to the first lock it is closed, and while the closing input is not applied it is open. When an opening input such as a fault signal is applied the second lock opens, and when a closing input such as a reset signal is applied the second lock closes.

摘要： A switch actuator mechanism, for example for use with a circuit breaker, includes a rocker which has first and second rocker members which are hinged together. The rocker members have flat front faces which are movable between a condition in which they lie flat in the same plane, and a second position in which the faces are inclined relative to one another, with one rocker member standing proud of the housing of the switch or circuit breaker. Fingers on one of the rocker members engage a link of the circuit breaker mechanism to open or close its contacts. A spring loaded latching mechanism locks the rocker members alternately in their first and second conditions with successive operations of the mechanism.

摘要： A rating plug circuit is used in a processor-based circuit breaker tripping system having a current sensor for sensing current from a current path. The rating plug circuit includes a printed circuit board and a resistor that is connected to the printed circuit board for establishing a designated voltage in the presence of a predetermined amount of sensed current. A connector, having a plurality of conductive contact points, interconnects the printed circuit board with the tripping system, and a plurality of printed circuit paths are included on the printed circuit board to provide a binary code at the contact points. The binary code indicates the value of the resistor and is read by the processor to analyze the current in the current path.

摘要： A molded case circuit breaker includes a clear viewing window through its top cover to enable the position of its internally disposed separable electrical contacts to be externally visually discerned. A manually engagable handle extending through an opening formed in the top cover of the molded case of the circuit breaker has an electrically insulating strip or barrier secured thereto and movable therewith for covering the clear viewing window when the separable contacts are in their CLOSED position to prevent smoke and other arc products resulting from circuit breaker interruptions from obstructing the clear viewing window. The viewing window may be inserted in the top cover during the molding process or may be subsequently disposed in the top cover in the form of an insert fixedly secured thereto.

摘要： An integrated electronic trip molded case circuit breaker includes a trip unit circuit arranged on a printed wire board contained within the breaker enclosure along with at least one circuit breaker auxiliary accessory. The condition of the integrated circuit breaker contacts is visually ascertained by a color-coded operating handle skirt subjacent indicating windows on the cover of the circuit breaker enclosure. To deter the egress of ionized gas during overload current conditions through the circuit breaker, the handle skirt seals the operating handle opening from the external environment. A groove formed within the external portion of the operating handle cooperates with an edge surface of the enclosure cover to allow the operating handle to rotate between its fully "OFF" and "ON" positions.

摘要： A molded case circuit breaker includes an operating mechanism position indicator having a plurality of electrically insulating cards or strips disposed beneath an opening in the breaker cover about a manually engageable handle of the circuit breaker for movement in response to movements of the handle along the cover opening. A first one of the cards includes a pair of spaced apart, laterally aligned red markings for providing an externally visually discernible indication that the operating mechanism of the circuit breaker is in its CLOSED position. The first card also includes a pair of spaced apart, laterally aligned white markings for providing an externally visually discernible indication that the operating mechanism of the circuit breaker is in its TRIPPED position. The second card is positioned beneath the first card and is of a substantially greater length than the first card. Disposed on the second card are a pair of spaced apart, laterally aligned green markings for externally visually indicating that the operating mechanism is in its OPEN position. The first and second cards are movable relative to each other and a lost motion connection is provided between the second card and the handle. The colored markings on the cards are viewable through a pair of laterally-aligned slots provided in the cover of the circuit breaker. The two cards also function as a mechanical and electrical barrier closing the opening of the cover of the circuit breaker through which the handle extends.

摘要： A molded elongated arcuate shield is snap-fitted to a circuit breaker operating handle to achieve a lost motion connection thereto. The operating handle projects through an elongated wall opening in the circuit breaker housing and is movable longitudinally thereof. The shield is disposed between an arcuate interior surface of housing and an arcuate surface of an apron formed integrally with the handle. While the apron above is too short to close the wall opening for all positions of the handle, the apron in cooperation with the shield fully closes the wall opening for all positions of the handle. Latch tabs formed integrally with the shield engage a blocking formation internally of the housing to hold the shield stationary while the handle moves from its On to Trip position. In the former position ON indicia carried by the apron is viewable through an aperture in the shield through which the handle extends, and when the handle is in its Trip position the latched shield blocks the ON indicia from view. Labyrinth-type gas seals are provided adjacent the longitudinal edges of the wall aperture by longitudinally extending ribs formed integrally with the shield and extending into cooperating slots inside the housing wall.

摘要： An electrical receptacle assembly affording ground fault protection includes a housing containing fixed contacts supported by socket connector subassemblies. A support plate mounts an electronics/magnetics module and operating mechanism sub-assembly including a pivotal, movable contact carrying arm, a latch, a reset button and a trip solenoid. The reset button positions the latch to detain the arm with the contacts in circuit completing relation. On a ground fault, the module effectuates energization of the solenoid to unlatch the arm which moves to separate the contacts.
